Extra USB sockets (1 Viewer)

Hi folks, has anyone fitted extra USB sockets in their vans any info on where you purchased them and the install would be appreciated.

Do you have any reading lights (the ones you can swivel)?

If so they are available with a usb on the base.

No van is led strip lights , there is a flush mounted reading lights above both driver and passenger seats though ,

On the fuse box is a red LED which illuminates when a fuse has blown, an earth is not required for this the fuse boxes illuminate when they detect a short circuit. This makes it easy to identify blown fuses and makes for easier problem solving.

Buy appropriate cable/fuse and run/hide wire to where you want it and to battery.

As stated you can also tap off lights where appropriate but above method separates anything you are doing from other van electrics.

New VAG vehicles now come with C connectors rather than USB so for longevity I would install cigarette sockets with adaptors rather than USB sockets.

You haven't stated where you want your extra usb sockets?

In the cab area get an adapter that gives you extra sockets

In the hab area, get sockets to match your existing sockets, i.e. If your existing sockets are all cbe, get matching cbe using outlets

These are good, they charge fast and don't get hot. Beware of cheap copies though, these are aluminium
Bought 2 about a year ago for £8 each.

We changed one of our 240v sockets to one with both plug and usb, easy to fit and works well as long as your on hook up.

As Davidbaldam above. Works on EHU or through the inverter.

Just watch out if they are not switched as the burn about .3amp an hour each so could flatten batteries over time

Always best to fit a on/off switch, apart from safer, some have a very bright led which can be annoying at night

if you remove it, make the hole bigger and replace with this or similar. You can even replace with a normal "household" style one that the usb runs direct from the same circuit.
