Hi, I'm off around Europe in September (in a Sunlight PVC)
Could anyone share their experience of using Slime or similar product to mend a puncture?
What was your experience like (good and bad....)
Would you recommend another product?
Thanks!

Far better to carry a spare wheel, if you get a puncture in a Motorhome at more than a few miles an hour the tyre is normally wrecked even if it looks OK.

thanks, but I don't think that's an option for me at the moment.

We use Weldtite inner tube sealant on our e-bikes as we often ride on rough and thorny tracks, but as I have experienced the sealant trying to escape when you go to pump up the tyres there is no way I would use an in tyre sealant in our van tyres as we have TyrePal sensors that I'm sure it would bung them up along with any other TPM system.

I made the mistake of putting slime sealer in our motorcycle as a precaution on a long trip, when it came to replace the tyres I found the slime had badly corroded the inside of the alloy wheels, as most motor homes also have alloys I would strongly advise Not to use it, it was a devil of a job to clean the inside of the rims before the new tubeless tyres would seat and seal.

I had a puncture ,top of side wall ,luckily I had a spare.
I tried to carry out a temporary repair in the punctured tyre in case I had another puncture on the way back home. I plugged the hole with a repair kit consisting of the sticky plug in strings.
Pumped up the tyre and still had a small leak so I used a can of repair gunk. It was a few years old ,but totally useless .the tyre still leaked.
On return home I had another spare tyre I had switched to the punctured rim(as it had a TPM )
The gunk was hardly visible around the inside of the rim and easily wiped off with paper wipes.

Motorbikes don’t carry a spare. I did a successful repair while on bike tour in Croatia with mushroom repair kit ( with special inserting tool) and cement glue, and another time near Devizes in middle of country side. Both times the repair lasted pretty well. Small 12v compressor and you done.
If a spare it’s not a option, get the best repair kit you can, and a small 12v compressor. I highly recommend the mushroom plugs that come with a special tool to insert them. The mushroom expands back inside and makes a very good seal, also it won’t come out.

We didn't have a spare, just the can of gunk that was provided with the MH. We carry a spare tyre but not a spare wheel. The breakdown people are happy with this and say that should we need them we should tell them we have a spare tyre but no spare wheel and they will send a truck that can deal with this.

Our tyre is in the garage but will be changed later this year when all the van tyres are changed. The best of the old tyres will be used as a spare - I might ask the garage owner if he can source a spare wheel if it's not too expensive.

There are a few threads on the site about adding brackets for a spare wheel which might be of use. Personally I think under the van is probably best as then the spare is in the shade.

I've used slime puncture prevention fluids and they worked for me. I used to get a puncture once or twice a year due to the roads I drove on. I didn't get any when using the slime. On a different vehicle, I had one puncture - the slime slowed down to the air loss. My wheels are steel.

Opinions vary, but I used to use punctureseal which you put in the tyre before you have a puncture. Works well with things like nails.
Inform anyone changing the tyre that it is there as if they push the tyre off the rim while there is still pressure in it they will pebbledash the workshop.
The best is a spare if you can find room a spare tyre if you haven't space for a wheel you can always pack stuff in it.
