Probably a silly question, but just realised that I have euro number plates on my motor home, car and bike...

Will I need to change them for plain ones before I cross the channel? ie. Will I get in trouble for having GB and the euro stars circle?

I'm guessing I shouldn't, but seems a waste to throw perfectly serviceable items in the bin

You can fit stickers over the blue Euro part of the number plate they can be just GB stickers or GB + Union Jack or you can fit a seperate GB sticker. It's all in the Gov's Brexit info.

As far as I know the old plates are fine, but we need a GB sticker as well

Don’t know the answer to your question but I just purchased some GB stickers to go over the blue Euro bit
Ebay

I think a separate GB sticker may still be required in Spain even if you have put stickers on your number plate? I’m also not sure whether the number plate stickers need to be reflective to strictly comply with UK regulations, some cheaper stickers are not reflective. Hopefully it will become clearer at some time in near future?

I was under the impression GB plates were needed from Jan 1 st 2020,,May be wrong but i fitted one then.BUSBY.

I don't think it would be a problem to leave them just use a separate GB sticker

Existing plates are OK.... The gov can't expect 50 million car owners to rush out and buy new plates BUT you MUST have a GB sticker on the rear.
Pettiness at its best.

I have bought these as people were saying the cheaper printed on vinyl were fading quickly and some are to small and don't cover what's underneath.

Here are the regs - https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/flags-symbols-and-identifiers
Thanks, just ordered some of each. As you say they won't fade and do look much better.

Don't think our Goverment care less. Its The EU who won't be happy unless you comply. Its their regs. BUSBY.

Don't quote me on this but.....I think technically it's illegal.....having said that, I have the saltire, sco and the European stars on mine with no gb sticker on display......which isn't legal and I've never been challenged by the police in Europe so I'm not going to change it. So I suspect you would be fine

I have this arrangement (since early 2019) covered a few thousand miles in Euroland too, no one seemed to notice.

The stickers can be had off fleabay for £2.50

Also found in any Motor/Auto Factors base, think I paid under a pound for mine (each) at Mills.

I've also got an unused magnetic GB sticker from way back, when I realised the moho bumper was made of non-magnetic plastic :xrofl: :xrofl:
Just use double sided tape then that way you can still use it. Ours will hold firmly on to the metal rear doors
