what do we think off the elddis range especially the autoquest 115 looking for a sub 6metre m home any good ideas

Note the size of the water tank and the wet room style of the bathroom.

Like TwoonTour I am enjoying my Elddis 155, likewise also I'm not looking to change it.
However 155 is the 7mtr version so I guess more space.

Last year we bought an Elddis Accordo 105 Prestige from Vehicles 4 Leisure at Chester. We had spent 2 years on this forum and going around dealers and shows making up our mind the exact layout we wanted. The 'van we bought was a dealer special edition and came with an incredible amount of extras which would have cost us an extra £6k had we got the base 'van elsewhere.
It is 5.99m long but manages to squeeze a heck of a lot into the space. Have a look at the video.
We've had the 'van less than a year and the only problem we had with it was that the fridge failed to work on gas but it was put right in a couple of hours. We're well pleased with it as it ticks all the boxes for us.

(y) same as ours but the new ones aren't as good in our opinion. There's hardly any storage as the bathroom is bigger and two cupboards are lost to a microwave.

Re the 115 the rear overhang is big so carrying a scooter would put extra weight on the rear axle (that's if you're bothered) but I like a wheel on each corner for good handling.

Over all Elddis build quality is good (y)

Long history of poor build quality and water ingress problems. Even with the new construction method they still have problems.

They do come with a 10 year water ingress warranty

We had a new 120 in 2008 and kept it four years ..no problems apart from a couple of external hinges needed replacements..it was our first motorhome and did France Italy so well.

Much like German van then going by recent posts on the forum. ;)
Any manufacturer you will get some problem vans you need to look at the amount of problems compared to the build quantity.
Hymer for example produce more vans in a year than the entire UK industry. You hear about the odd Hymer having problems but they are virtually non existent compared with the number of problems on UK built vans.
It's a joke the problems with Brit vans when you look at the small numbers each manufacturer produces.

Bought the larger Encore in 2017,no major problems with regular use in the UK as well as trips to france and spain ,I feel Elddis offer good value for money for their motorhomes.Yes I know there is plenty of plastic and particle board but that is the way most manufactures are going unless one is going to pay a fortune, not forgetting the ten year warranty on the water ingress as already mentioned.

No personal experience, but they look good value
With value, expect compromise in some areas

I do know from my buddies who are t*ugge*s that the DEALER experience can be “variable” ,

There's plenty about so they all can't be bad , we are at Cirencester Park club site and it's like elddis vans have invaded the site

Yep, very popular indeed. There's no denying that you get a whole load of van for the money and at a decent price point too.

The Elddis caravans seem to succumb to a good number of quality issues but there's not the equivalent complaints with regards to MoHo's etc. They must be getting better.

That said, if I was in the market for a British van then I would certainly pick an Elddis before an Autotrail or a Swift as IMO those two brands have really dropped off the quality curve.

I’ve got an Elddis Encore 255 3 year old and tbh it’s pretty good, that said, I’m planning my next van in around 5-6 years time and it will be a good insulated German van purely for the fact I’ll be spending more winter time in it!!
Whilst I agree with what you say, there is undoubtedly more people coming forward with problems with German vans these days (the bean counters are in charge of everything now)!
One last thing @Lenny HB I’d like to see what hymer (not knocking them by any lengths of the imagination) would come up with if they sold a few models around the same price as a Brit van, you can’t tell me the quality wouldn’t suffer and current hymer manufacturing processes wouldnt change (corners would be cut)
But I appreciate we are where we are!!
It’s a bit like comparing an Audi A5 to a Vauxhall Vectra(y)

So it’s not just autotrail then. Does anyone know the actual percentage of ones with water ingress?

We've had a 115 for over four years and covered 40,000 miles plus. We do two return trips to Greece each year, some legs taking seven weeks.

Being less expensive, there are a few annoying problems but it ticks a lot of boxes for us and there are few alternatives on the market. We always stay on campsites, so we would have preferred not to have a shower - it's now our 'cave' and general storeroom. We also love cooking with local ingredients and the full cooker & kitchen space is great.

Using twelve ferries a year, being under six metres saves us a lot of money, but why Elddis didn't use the extra 250mm is something of a mystery - it would have been so useful to us. We don't understand all this nonsense about permanent beds as they steal valuable space from the rest of the van for the sake of saving five minutes a day. In any case, it's good to be able to put our feet up at night.

The 10-year water ingress warranty is a bit of a con, as you must have the annual habitation check for it to remain valid - that's another £2,000! We've had it done so far, but we're thinking of stopping.

If it's under 6m you need and, like us, you want a kitchen, you may have to compromise on build quality.

Are Elddis not now part of the Hymer Group ?

To reminss of caravans for us wouldn't even consider a van without fixed beds and a fixed table. Also a garage is essential only get those in vans with fixed beds. No way would I want thousands of pounds worth of bikes sitting outside on a rack.

The prospect of fixed beds & fixed tables is absolutely appalling to us ... how different we are!

The 115 was my first moho new in 2012, I got the improved more water tight version than was on offer previously. More than one owner I met of those previous models had a damp problem in the roof.
Mine did quite well going across Europe, however until quite recently the aluminium on those models was chocolate soft, mine got all sorts of little dents in it from just breathing on it.....almost:mad:

I had problems with a regularly leaking shower tray and misaligned water pump and the hab door was warped and total pants and was never able to be sorted properly. There were Rattles from day one to the end.... there were a few other niggles like the grey water system getting regularly blocked and the water heater gave up and a couple of water pipes kept falling off until I clipped them on properly.

On the plus side Great for easy parking, bathroom spacious for a small moho and more food prep space than we have now. Mrs Fusion did not want to keep making the bed up so we went for a fixed bed vehicle next with a garage, very little space in the Elddis for storage of any large items.

The base of my vehicle was fiberglass or GRP and therefore very waterproof.

Looked in a 2019 one at the Scottish moho show, gone very upmarket now and glitzy since 2012

There’s no doubt Eldiss vans now are quite good looking, and we even looked at a couple seriously last year, but the things that put us off were the lack of storage space, lack of a fixed bed and quite a few recent reports of leaks and cracked rear panels on new vans.
The ten year ingress warranty is good and like most other vans with similar warranties, you need to get them checked yearly at your cost.
In the end, the overall build quality, storage, and island bed won it for us when we bought our Burstner, but I can see why people would buy an Eldiss.

Bailey Advance/ Alliance 59-2?

I have a 2018 Encore 285. Overall, very pleased so far, though took me a while to fix all the cupboard catches. But as with any motor vehicle, a Friday afternoon build will filter into the supply chain, bringing grief to the unlucky owner. Going in for its first hab check next month, but not expecting any problems - all seems dry. The 10 year warranty is worth having.

My 2018 Accordo 105 must have been built on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, no complaints here:)

You (usually) get what you pay for.
I think Elddis are competitively priced, but they are not as well put together as some of the French and German vans. Personally,I would rather have an older Rapido than a new Elddis.......but I have always been odd!:D;)
