I'm still waiting for mine, I applied January 9th. I think the issue is with my doctor being slow.

Can’t fault DVLA for my renewal of C1. Had my medical on Saturday 11th May, posted forms on Sunday 12th with 2nd class stamp and today 21st my new licence was received!!

Well done!!

I applied for mine 56 days before my 70th, had a cardiac report included stating all OK but DVLA delayed it. I complained and it arrived a week later, 60 odd days after submission. A few weeks after received a written response to my complaint. The delay was caused by a delay… no explanation, weak apology but the author was proud to state that the delay was well inside their arbitrary target of 90% of licenses renewed in 90 days.
I didn’t bother replying to that rubbish but I do wonder why they don’t allow drivers approaching their 70th birthday wanting to keep their C1E to apply 90 days prior to their birthday without losing days (if they get the renewal request earlier than 57 days they date the new license at that date).
They are not fit for purpose and ignorant and arrogant enough not to realise it.

I applied on the 9th January, my birthday was the 2nd March.
My medical picked up on my eyesight (I thought my vision was okay) and I have a marginally enlarged aortic aneurism, well below the limit.
But I'm still waiting.

franknjan Interesting re: the eye test. I read up beforehand and measured 20 metres from a car number plate outside the house and could read it with both eyes (separately). At the D4D interview the doctor asked me to read a cut down opticians card and I had difficulty reading the bottom line with my weaker eye. Clearly it was a harder test than the 20 metre one. Luckily I passed.

I didn't realise my eyesight had deteriorated. After having prescription glasses, I realise how much clearer things are now.

Im still waiting now for the Ombudsman as DVLA claim they have no record of my C1 or my pass in 1987 even though I have provided them with photcopies of all documents .....They tried bullshit about a non medical event in 2012 for not renewing it but C1 was on my license in 2018 it dissapeared when I moved home last year ??? They lie , obfuscate and delay ,So far this is now 10 Months

Just to help your claim, Driving Exams are conducted under the auspices of DVSA (ex-VOSA). Maybe they can confirm your C1 pass in 1987.

One thing i need to clarify ??

DVLA have stated in some recent paperwork to the Ombudsman that after age 45 anyone with a C1 license needs a medical every 5 years ???? Is that true ???? I thought it was 70, when you required medicals ???
I have never been asked to do a C1 medical ????

That is for a C licence not a C1.
For a C1 first medical at 70 then every 3 years.

DVLA insisting C1 is same , I have been on phone again this afternoon with the Ombudsmans office saying this is completely wrong they agree and they are also still trying to get DVLA to find the lost records

I also spoke with DVLA on the phone and they are insisting that I must get a medical for my C1 as im over 45 ,, seems they dont know their own rules

Living the dream.
Applied for mine in Feb. Had to demand a S88 letter in case I was pulled as my license had expired. Gone to medical team that are in no way shape or form medical in any way. Doctor this afternoon confirmed he hadn’t had anything from dvla, my MP is now on the case. Absolute tossers.
