West Bay is good (Used as Broadchurch setting). About a mile further West along the coast is Highlands End (Eype) good club house restaurant and facilities, poole etc. A further 5 miles West along the coast is Charmouth and Wood Farm site CMHC & CCC nice cafe / restaurant local produce fully serviced pitches stayed there last week very friendly staff highly recommended

Careful if you stay at westbay, station carpark is no overnight and they where giving out parking tickets to vans over the weekend.

Durdle door touring park, you will need good levellers though if you want a view.

Went to West Bay the other day. What a mixture of architecture Victorian + 60’s , 70’s , 80’s , 90’s and some newish modern apartments. What a dump. Nothing like Broadchurch which was also filmed in Somerset

I don’t see how people like west bay ????

Broadchurch was filmed at lots of places, but mainly at Westbay and Bridport, some of the other villages and beaches were also used. The Police station was the building next to Helmet City. The beach is the main attraction. We prefer some of the other beaches close by.

Never mind where you stay-go and eat at Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock.
We liked Woods Farm near Charmouth but its not a beach site.We noted Dorset was good for daytime parking- every village seemed to have some designated spots in the car park.

We like to walk down from Highlands End to West Bay harbour to get some lunch from the food stands there - crab sandwiches or fish & chips but do have to watch out for the seagulls as they think it's their lunch too! Walking along the waters edge on the beach is scenic but always avoid going next to the cliffs as they have had a couple of rock falls in recent years. West Bay town is a bit run down but a few interesting shops. Bridport by comparison is a very pleasant town which is in walking distance then there's Eype pebble beach (dog friendly all year) which is lovely but a more difficult to walk on. This is the hut just above Eype beach which featured in Broadchurch drama:

How bloody dare you. I love west Bay!

The toilet block at freshwater was used as the court room toilets.

There was a Pub in West Bay, name of which escapes me, used to have a decent pint of REAL ale. Had to laugh when I saw some of the Scenes in Broadchurch. Many of which are miles away from West bay itself. Back in the 80`s/90`s, It was all part of my "patch", virtually Bournemouth to the Tamar!, Based in Yeovil. Quite a few places where used for filming, most famous perhaps being the Cobb at Lyme Regis, with Meryl Streep.. Montacute House Nr Yeovil featured in several "period" drama`s, as did Sir Walter Raleigh's House at Sherbourne and Sherbourne school, which I think doubled as Harrow or Rugby? in one production.

We and a couple of motorhoming and caravaning neighbours spent a long weekend on a nice little site tucked away on the edge of Kimmeridge bay in Dorset.
Walking distance to Kimmeridge bay to explore the fossil bearing cliffs there and walking distance into Kimmeridge village where you will find the famous Steve Etches fossil museum.

A few miles down the road are the lost village of Tyneham, Corfe Castle and the steam railway that runs into Swanage for the beach and great fish and chips.

Eh!. Talk about blast from the past. Swanage Railway?. Did the "annual" steam test on the Locomotive there circa 1989, after which I got to ride the footplate!. Mind, I used to get to drive the Scale ones`s at Pecorama (Beer), when the tests there where finished, playing trains and getting paid!.

Thank you everyone for your help and recommendations.
Reagards Mark.
