Paul and Pippa, Just check closely in the choc block connector that the broken brown wire wasn't "doubled up" with one of those heavier wires, there might still be the remains of the broken wire in one of those terminals ?
I'm trying to find a pic on my phone of the back of my similar fridge, but the photo storage is playing up.

Hi, thank you for your reply, which is the choc block?

Think brown wire is actually live (Pos) so red wire in choc bloc connector as Jockaneezer as stated

Sorry bud...the white heavy looking plastic one with the red cables coming from it. White next to the ring you have drawn

Kev

Doesn't look like it's long enough to go to the plug on the right. If you can't see where remains of the end is it's probably not been anywhere ie never used. The end looks too neat to have snapped off, there would be some strands visible 🤓

Not a problem guys. We had a similar issue recently and it was very much the signal wire from the lpg system that had failed us. Found it to be the cable had broke somewhere in the loom? Any way..fitted a new one and by passed the original and all was ok.
Ours was the Dometic RMD 8501..

Looking at your picture, the broken wire has a bend in it near the grey outer sheathing which suggests to me that it may have been going up behind the black rusty bit at the top of the picture.
Have a look behind it to see if the other end of the wire is there somewhere.
It also looks to me like it may have snapped off a spade connector judging by the fairly clean break.

That was what l thought, but couldn't see any connector,,

From that drawing, X103 (brown wire) looks like it goes into the choc block sharing the same terminal as the red wire, could you have a closer look in there to see if the brown has broken off inside?

On the wiring diagram the 'terminal block heating element DC' has four wires going to it. Top terminal has a red (rot) and a brown (braun) wire, bottom terminal has a white (weiss) and an unlabelled wire. You could check this because the relay (little black cube next to it marked 295.20....) should have the red wire going to it, according to the diagram (not visible in the pic).

If that's true then probably the brown wire goes to the terminal block (choc block) and connects to the red wire. I'd guess its function is to tell the power module that the 12V heater has power to it.
Edit: jockaneezer says the same thing in less words(y)

Thank you.. 👍

Just been looking at Toady 's thread and he has a picture very similar to yours. Only in his case, the white wire is missing and the brown is connected to the top right in the large white terminal block. Which makes sense judging by the length of the brown in your picture.
Take a look. Your notifications should show you where to look.
I can't see from your picture, where the white wire goes, but I'm sure Tim would like to know. 😁

I'm not very tech minded either, I just take bits apart and put them together again, sometimes, just doing that solves the problem with perhaps a poor connection being improved in the process........ but most often not. 😁

You could always post the pictures here, it would be good for completing the picture so to speak.

Good to see the picture, but, if you look at Tim's picture, the brown wire on his goes to the large white block connector (centre in your picture) and joins with the large red wire in the top right terminal.
The rust on the screws is probably why the wire broke in the first place so I would just replace the whole block for a new one anyway.
