Doc goes to Turkiye

Because it is dirty noisy city an has a lot of refugee migrant problems in the last few years.

I know what Tam likes and it is not that. There are the sort of beaches Tam likes just along the coast, but he knows where they are.

You're right it's a big dirty noisy city..

I won't be here for long

But I am trying to find scrap yards that do scooters and ones that do vans so I'll be here overnight tonight .

Just caught up … well done negotiating the phone / wallet problem.

I found that some cards wouldn’t work in France unless I put the physical card and pin in. They did work in Spanish and Portugal unless it was a French shop like Intermarché.

I wondered if this camera gives a blue cast to the photos … I do t know if you can play with the RGB settings in pro mode? I don’t have a Samsung so someone else may know.

raining again today

Found a launderette to do the pile of large items I had, bedding , throws ,heavy towels etc . So doing that now . And using the free WiFi to finish setting up my phones as the xaomi one seemed to need WiFi for everything. I'm sure half the apps it's downloading I haven't used in years. But it's backing up from Google play .

It's quite a complicated phone to use , I'm not as keen on it as the Samsungs which are all pretty much the same to use.

I gave up trying to find a scooter breakers , I've found a shop to fit a new luggage rack and supports to my scooter and a new top box to carry my shopping .

Rack €40, supports €35 and new 55litre box €55 .

Will make my scooter more useful.

All done ...and €20 for him to fit it all which was very good as took about an hour and a few extra brackets and bolts .

Wouldn't have needed support brackets for a small box but I wanted one that could hold 2 helmets or a big bag of shopping .

I think that's a good price as I could not get a rack anywhere in the UK for this model of scooter .. could order one from Poland at €114 or a second hand one in France for €90 which required holes drilled in the plastics of the scooter which I didn't want to do .

This one bolted straight on to exsisting holes in the scooter frame..
Very strong rack now

Nice people had a long chat in broken English, sign language and Google translate lol.

How does the bracket work fitted to the swingarm

Box is bigger than the bike.
Ha ha yes it's quite big but no point in buying the little 30 litre one as cant fit much shopping in it. This one is the same size I had on my big bike. It can take 2 full face helmets

I was just about to say that when he wasn’t using the scooter he could pop it in the top box! 😎

Ian
The box does look huge in that photograph lol but he only had 2plastic types the 30l could only hold one small helmet.
It was €40 this one takes 2 helmets and was€55

He had the aluminium type luggage boxes but they started at €95 and that was the small one.

I want to be able to take scooter to lidl etc not just when travelling but next year when parked on a campsite as this summer I had to take camper to go shopping.

Tam on his way back now, from Lidl

That's a Honda innova....the sister to my suzuki. And surprisingly easy to get racks etc for ...the suziki seemed to be less popular in the UK

Literally hundreds of them here in Greece though and Turkey from memory

I want a sporty exhaust for it in Turkey 😁

Sadly no more pics today as the weather has been rubbish....parked up about 20 miles west of patras at a wee fishing village harbour called Alykes . It's not very scenic but it'll do for a nights stop .

I hope this lousy weather buggers off soon . It's warm enough but everytime i go outside it bloody rains .

I'll tell you something else I find impressive compared to the UK ..and I've had this in a few countries now.

I turned up at that shop around 12.30pm asked about the rack etc ..
He didn't have the rack and supports there.
He phoned somewhere else for them ,he had the box though.

So he gave me a price, then helped me to unload scooter out the camper , his wife went off to collect the rack and supports, he fitted it there and then , his apprentice checked my tyre pressures etc . He fitted everything there and then and charged a very reasonable rate.
In the UK I'd have had to book it in. Parts would be ordered , would have cost more and had to wait days.

how do we get it so wrong?
He even went to the coffee shop 2 doors down and bought me a frappe while we waited for the rack .
