Changing Leisure Battery, Question. (1 Viewer)

I am changing our leisure battery this weekend and the motorhome has a 140w solar panel.
What I need to know is do I need to cover the panel or will it be ok just to remove the inline fuses in the feed from the panel. Sorry if it seems a simple question but I don't want to do any damage to anything.

Or remove the fuse first

Taking the fuse out is fine but do it when it is not producing current, when dark if need be

@Techno So if the panel is producing current it will damage something even with fuses out?

If the fuse is near the battery, ideally it should be fused at both battery and controller as there are two 12v sources in the same wire, then removing while the panel is active will cause a spark at the fuse.
if the battery is releasing gas the spark could cause it to explode.

Depends on what you regulator instructions say. Mine says do not disconnect under load.

@pappajohn Have 2 fuses one is panel side of the controller the other is near the battery. It is also a sealed gel battery.
