Maybe it is different area to areaAll the posts on shortages of refill calor bottles across the UK and all the posts about LPG filling stations closing.
Very confusing for new prospective motorhomers.
We have an underslung tank and have plenty of LPG stations in Leeds.
Do for us the tank is best.
Newton Stewart is a bit closer than Belfast! We used to have a filling station twenty or thirty years ago but no longer. The nearest place is a two hour ferry trip away though we are not on an island, there is another about 50 miles down the road.
Cheers... but it's a european van, so apparently 13kg is too tall.Lots around Telford which isn’t a million miles away.
I have an empty 13kg propane if your interested
You can change a larger cylinder for a small one at most calor outlets.Cheers... but it's a european van, so apparently 13kg is too tall.![]()
Most outlets don't even seem to have any stock to swap at the moment. You can change a larger cylinder for a small one at most calor outlets.
is that because you are all full of gasPlenty of garages with LPG in the South East.
We have a rapido a class 2x13 kg fit okCheers... but it's a european van, so apparently 13kg is too tall.![]()
I've heard that Calor gas cylinders are very hard to come by yet I've seen them for sale at local petrol stations (2 at least). I now realise why. The typical price I've seen them advertised at is £47 for a 13kg. Doubtless this is the exchange price and you have to pay extra for a new contract to obtain one initially. My dealer said that Calor are no longer signing any new contracts due to the shortage. I didn't check at the local petrol stations but I can see that this would be worrying for someone (like myself) acquiring a motorhome for the first time.Afternoon all
I've been exchaning my 13kg or 6kg cylinders at go outdoors.
Last one cost £25.60 (sale on) to exchange the 13kg bottle and they had lots in in both sizes (normally) £32ish
Yes, you have to be a member but for £5 for the year you get membership discount on other items such as coats, camping etc
They even took it to the van for me in the carpark
I would suggest an on-line account with Flogas. They deliver to your door. The new van has very little storage, but it does have a 2x11kg gas locker.
The BP in Newton Stewart has an LPG pump or at least it used to , it’s a bit tight to get into as I remember but it’s doable with a 7.5 metre van .You're right. I'm there now and they have installed a pump at McCreadies garage, shame a big van can't access it, camper would be okay.
Snap, and very helpful drivers tooI would suggest an on-line account with Flogas. They deliver to your door.
I have no idea what the availability of bottles is like - for obvious reasons I haven't needed to refill my two for over a year.
daveandsan any good for your son ?Lots around Telford which isn’t a million miles away.

There is also one at the BP station just up the road, closer to the roundabout. It has been there years but they don’t put it on the prices sign so driving past you wouldn’t know it was there. It is one of the pumps in front of the shop and we can access it with our Imala. Didn’t know about the one at McCreadies. You're right. I'm there now and they have installed a pump at McCreadies garage, shame a big van can't access it, camper would be okay.
Thanks Kate, but he is after a 6kg.daveandsan any good for your son ?
We are quite lucky too, ie, from Bourne, along the A15 to Eastern Industry at P/boro, (a 22 x mile stretch), we have 5 x Autogas outlets (including a Flogas depot), some of which also supply cylinders. We have one on the door step and two more within a 20 minute drive![]()
I have a 11kg if you can get up to NewportCheers... but it's a european van, so apparently 13kg is too tall.![]()
