Carthago Compactline

We have recently purchased a Carthago Compactline 143. Like a lot of German motorhomes it doesn't have an oven. I have seen photos with ovens in but not close enough to see the make. I have spoken to a couple of Carthago dealers but they have been unable or unwilling to tell me where I might get one. They are quite small as only take the place of one kitchen drawer. I have found a grill only but that would not meet our needs. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks.

Camper uk are cathargo dealers. They may be able to help.

Thank you for your reply but I've tried them and they said I'd have to take it in but not until October as they are very busy.

We had a microwave fitted in ours. Slotted in nicely below the fridge at floor level so no waving hot food in your face like you do with a tec tower set up.

We will be taking delivery of our new i143 in a few weeks time, with fitted oven. Unfortunately I currently have no idea of either the make or the model number but when I get the opportunity I will take a look and try to identify it.

They fit domectic ovens we have one fitted in ours and it’s crap , we have had to have the hinges replace twice in two years

Looks like a Smev from the pictures.

We previously had a Hymer without an oven so I got creative with other cooking methods. Our new model does have a small oven fitted over the tech tower fridge. To be honest it’s pretty useless and hasn’t made any difference to what and how we cook. I’m more likely to use the microwave than the oven.

My advice is carry a slow cooker, we have one that you can remove the Teflon sleeve and place it directly on the gas hob to brown meat etc. My best friend for cooking is my Weber Jumbo Joe, I have fitted a temperature gauge to the lid and carry an additional stainless steel ring that increases the height. You can cook pretty much everything in it from casseroles to cakes, plus it doubles up as a rotisserie.
Also I find cooking outside keeps the interior cool and clean.

Thank you that would be very helpful

All the Carthagos seem to have Dometic Tek Tower ovens on top of FF, so quite high up. Ours came with this also. I have not used the oven other than for warming up plates as I cook everything in The Remoska, or The Webber Q 1200 BBQ (weather permitting) Last Xmas I managed a whole x mass dinner in the van, doing all of it with 2 hob rings and The Remoska for The Turkey Joint
Goog luck, happy cooking.

They are now doing a low level option with a separate oven, that replaces one of the drawers in the kitchen unit. From the pictures it appears to be a Smev oven.

There's not enough room above our fridge freezer for an oven.

Checked the SMEV site and none seem to fit

We have had a carthgo for three years and use, as recommended by others , a gas bbq and a slow cooker. Works a treat. We had a Rapido prior to this and the built in oven was terrible and the only item worse was the grill. Cook outside. It’s what motorhoming is made for.

Is this getting close?

Is this getting close?
It is but doesn't match the draw measurements in mine - thank anyway

Looking very closely at the photo of the kitchen I can see now that they have cut the draw down!

Our Compactline 143 came off the production line today and we hope to be able to take a look at it soon. I will try to find out more about the oven.

How exciting I bet you can't wait!

Hi stevewagner

Did you get this sorted? I too have just bought a new to me 143 compactline and like yourself need a gas oven due to being a Flt so mains electric is mostly a no no.

Have you any Solar Panels on yours? I have none at the moment and that will have to be priority no 1 when I take delivery.
