Macenas Plays not far away from Cabo de Gata.
Which I believe is worth seeing and so happens we have booked a penthouse apartment for 14 weeks overlooking the sea at Mojacar playa next January at very very favourable rates lol.
Motorhome parking included :)

Best drinking water around :)
Looked it up on Google. I guess it is the Chiringuito Macenas. Recognised it as a place we drove past a few weeks ago. I can remember seeing a few motorhomes where you were parking.

Gis a hint Phil .....
It's called Aldeia da Estrela. A stunnng stop over with magnificiant views and in Camper Contact. Go through the parking place and onto the little hill 200 meters further on. Well that's what I did, it was the obvious place to pitch up. I'm getting some envious looks from some of the other motorhome owners who missed the obvious. What a sunset! I'll load some pictures tomorrow. Just finishing off a bit of Portuguise reserver tinto .

Found it one Google maps. Its on the reservoir we looked over when we stop at Monsaraz. That is one of our most favourite Aire of all time - truly fabulous view over the reservoir.

Correct Peter, we plan to visit Monsarz in a couple of days time then make our way up to Badajoz via some more Aires where we will brim at 1.05 a litre before visiting town and crossing back into Portugal to do some of the senic routes further North.
Picture of our location from the pontoon I was fishing off today. Did I tell you that story about the one that got away lol.

Yup! Somewhere down there. Now checking out one and only restaurant which apparently has brilliant reviews and no doubt prices to match.

Well! The restaurant got kicked into touch after they tried to charge us 6 euros for two bottles of beer then corrected it to 4 when I challenged the price. Also, I have run out of data and now reliant on free WiFi. Today we have arrived a little further up the lake at a smashing little FLT place called LUZ. We were heading for the museum when ....wait for it... Mena found a one Euro bar lol. I wonder if we will make it to the museum.

Like this place more that the last. Just been down to the museum which does not open untill 14.30 and some dude is pitched up in the perfect FLY spot just beyond on the edge of the lake. Now back in the one Euro sports bar sucking up the free WiFi. Lovely warm and sunny day too.

Smashing pictures Dave, glad you guys crossed ok and are on your way. Mena and I left Monsaraz and went to Elves which is worth seeing and crossed into Spain for cheap fuel and opportunity to visit Badjoz, ok if your nearby but one visit is enough. Now on an Aire we both stayed at in 2015, after spending yesterday at a smashing Aire at Baragem de Povia.Do you remember Benquerenca? Love this Aire and still a fabulous FLY stopover. Walked into village to watch cup final only to find out it's a 5.15 kick Off! Still not to worry, it's a 1 Euro bar with free WiFi and will see the match later.
Picture taken on my walk to the village 30 minutes ago.

We have now arrived at Guarda after starting to do our scenic routes in Northern Portugal. Today we we drove through some amazing scenery as we left Benqurenca and made our way to Guarda via the N339, 232 & N18. Some pictures. Once again, having problems loading pictures, so will finishe the job when we get home and get decent WiFi.
The next two days is more scenic routes and then we exit Portugal at the top end for Leon.

Our last night in Portugal, we have drove on a senic route most of the afternoon and now in Braganca.Great Aire here and were sitting just above it inside the fortress walls at the restaraunt enjoying a glass of wine, or two. Tomorrow am earlier start and aiming to arrive at Leon by 11.00
Yesterday we were on the Duro and some stunning scenery was to be had.getting a little cooler now but the afternoons are still in the very high 20s or low 30s.

Ouch!
Had a bit of an issue with my cab battery! After 7 years it has final popped it's clogs and the solar panel fooled me into thinking it was something else! Breakdown service was Brilliant and really took us under their wing and got us to a Fiat dealer to replace the battery. Had to bypass Leon but still managed Burgos where we are spending the day after having our battery replaced this morning. Cost? 342 Euros. The 21 % tax is a real killer, Labour was only 34 euros and battery 242 ish. Poor Mena, her wine cellar is about to take a serious hit.

Enjoyed the cathedral and it's lashing down. Only one thing for that then. Beer o'clock.
