Heading to Eagles Nest tomorrow, any places to stop for the day/night. What is access like for a moho ?

We stayed overnight at the Watzmann Therme in the village - its just a car park along the main road but no problems, and was fairly quiet. The spa was nice for a couple of hours and the Hofbrauhaus in the village is also worth a visit.
The road up to the parking area where you catch the bus to the Eagle's Nest is rather steep in places....not so much a problem for going up, but engine braking is definitely required on the way down (and even then hubby needed to use the brakes a bit too much for comfort). We managed to get into the main car park, but if that's full I believe there's an overflow car park about 1km further along the road, and Park4Night suggests that overnighting is possible in the overflow car park.

Check weather forecast before heading up. If you get it right the views are stunning, if you get it wrong you will not see anything. Enjoy the cafe at the top and take a shed load of Euro's if you plan to eat there.
