Returned from a (mostly) fab 3 week tour in France. Visiting Hymerites who have settled in Dordogne region (near Brantome) followed by a stay with Morag's French friends not seen for 20 years living in Rhone Alps region near St Etienne. From there onto Lake Annecy.....the thing is we could have been anywhere as I haven't a great travelling companion in Morag(ro), my partner. She is mostly oblivious to the fantastic scenery in between. More interested in paper / google maps on iphone, head down with magnifier. To be fair, failing eye sight doesn't help! It's mhome heaven in Europe made easy with stays on Aires, but with Brexit looming it's not at all clear what the situation will be regarding a possible NO Deal. Possible visa's; travelling with our two dogs is expensive enough at mo (we paid some 80 euro's for consultation and tape worm tablets prior to returning to UK) let alone if they are to have blood tests for non rabies verification by a vet here plus declaration being fit to travel. (And if we plan to journey to Spain next January this must be done this Month).
So touring Britain then from 2019. No bad thing, this land is beautiful. But not set up here for mhomes like across the English Channel (crikey we're so arrogant). So do we go back to being a tugger? Given that you mostly have to book sites (and then during school term) and we could then further reduce our costs by having just our one (tow) vehicle...any views?

Thanks funsters for welcome. One among you helped us catch dog at Newbury show on strength of which nearly signed up. Think we will on account of meets etc. So well encouraged, the Wombles! To Geo, Brexit like Wheetabix only can't even manage one!

Plenty more Funster good spirit (not just dog catching!) on the forum & at rallies & meets (y)
Would advise joining soon as booking can fill up quickly for popular events - this one https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...rally-july-2019-getting-full-book-now.184992/ that we are organising is almost full already.

there is no 'best way' only the way that suits YOU , but if you plan to holiday mostly in the UK makes a lot of sense... and doesn't preclude going abroad if you fancy a change...

It's exactly what we did this year.. had the same thoughts as you, so sold the Hymer motorhome and bought a tow car and Hymer caravan..

happy tugging

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
I only use the m/h in the U.K. for family or occasional motorbiking events. Le continent is just a 20 mile drive and a gallon of diesel away from me. :)

Whats Brexit is it like Wheetabix
Weetabix is a simple breakfast meal that looks nice and neat at first, but when you actually add milk and try to eat it, it sort of disintegrates and goes all gooey and soggy.

Brexit, on the other hand, ...

Really appreciate welcoming, funsters. Thing is, if I revert to tugging (personal circumstances) would we still be allowrd in the fold?

Yes - there are quite a few Funsters who have gone back to caravanning as many of us were caravanners before :)Whilst most have motorhomes on Fun rallies there are also RVs, trailer tents & the odd caravan - it's more about the people than what you arrive in.

The last one to try that was found hanging from a tall lamppost. The verdict was suicide. The coroner said that the fact he was 60 feet in the air, no ladder and his hands tied behind his back just showed how determined he was.

To avoid such an unfortunate accident, you could fit motor-movers on the caravan. Then, technically, it's a motor-caravan.
