I may have missed a thread, although I checked. The unsightly "Angle Mort" stickers are for vehicles over 3,500 kg, like mine, which is 3850 kg. Up until now, I could swan along some of the many 3,500 kg speed restricted roads and easily be taken for a 3.5kg, as my model motorhome did make some at that weight. As soon as I stick the ugly badges on, I identify myself and must comply with 8o kph.

Just one of the many reasons I downplated to 3500kg..........tolls, traffic restrictions, resale, no C1............

Some websites say visitors need then others say they don't. But what is common is they are only required in urban areas.
The French tend to assume all Motorhomes are 3500kg so I'm not too worried I won't be fitting them to my 4500kg van.

Most Bulgarian,Polish and Spanish trucks have them so the law applies to non French.BUSBY.

So you're complaining you have to obey the law?

You ve also missed the part that most French single carriageway roads are now 80kph for all vehicles.

I don't believe that the Angles Mortes stickers are meant to apply to Motorhomes, but as they're only a tenner, Ive got a set to put on if I need them. had there been a requirement to register details like the crit d'air then I wouldnt have.

So You do not have a Crit"air sticker where you had to supply page 2 of your V5 with Reg number and weight?
Let's hope they don't release the database to the police.

French law  These mandatory stickers will probably end up in the same odds and sods draw as the mandatory breathalysers,

Will they save one life? Can't see it myself. There is only one sticker on my van, and its smiling'\

Exactly, its another nonsensical law, If the Cyclist can't/doesnt want to see a huge vehicle what difference will a 10 x 8 sticker make?

The Angles Mortes sticker is a picture of a Motorhome

The original ones were truck or bus - of which the bus one was to be used on motorhomes. Some joker on eBay seems to have produced his own version with a motorhome on it.

<Broken link removed>

We have French and other Europeans, all come through France on the campsite with over 3500kg motorhomes and not a sticker to be seen, 🙄 the only one I spotted was a Frenchman at lidl in Bennisa a few weeks ago. 😁 Bob.

Ps 😉 I just remembered why I took this photo, its because I thought that looks a very good stealth self build, Google doesn't find anything about the name on it so I'm thinking my suspicions are right. 😎

I remember being in Morocco when the crit d'air came out, lots of french there including some from the actual regions but the only motorhomes with the stickers were the uk ones.
Brits are such victims when it comes to rules🤣

Anyone looked where Angle Mort stickers go on a Ducato? I cannot get them flat and or within specified distances😥
A Ducato does not lend itself to something that size.
I have done them. Look crap but their country their rules.

Dont bother , the French arent, You will really struggle to find a French Motorhome with only 4 wheels that has the stickers. If anything you re setting yourself up for class 3 on the tolls.

An update on mine. having relented and put them on - because we are undeniably over 3500kgs, I managed to remove them again and reapply them to the backing paper at the tunnel terminal, so next time we go to France ( whenever thats going to be!) they will go back on.

Were they the standard self adhesive ones or specials that were meant to be removable?

Over the last few months I've signwritten (in the UK) several tractor units from Poland and Romania. They've all had these ugly stickers fitted.

Standard ones, to be fair they were only on for about 4 days so I kept the backing papers, but I think they would have been ok for longer.

I dont think I would bother for the quick dash through to germany or even staying at Gravelines etc on the way because you would pretty much have to get caught in an urban area - I mostly put them on for the transit through Rouen. I saw less than 10 MH's with them on during the 700 miles and 8 days we were travelling through France.

I've seen 'Blind Spot' stickers on UK lorries. Do these 'Angles Morts' stickers go over them, or next to them? What happens when all countries require a sticker in their language? Anyone know what 'blind spot' is in Welsh?
Man dall according to google.

The French are apparently keen that all of Europe adopts it. Who knew it was so easy to save all these cyclists that are killed or injured by HGV's.

Anything that may help save a life has got to be good. We’ve had quite a lot of cyclists killed by HGV lorries in recent years locally and from the news reports none seemed to be the fault of the cyclist. I accept I personally would not have liked to have displayed them on our old van but the law is the law, we choose to disregard it and have to suffer any consequence. Spain have introduced new laws for similar reasons & here in the UK the coming new laws will be the larger the size indicates whose responsible, unless proven otherwise, so we’re all going down similar routes it seems.

I'm also all for things that save lives, but I question the suggestion that a cyclist who doesnt appreciate the inherent danger of cutting up the side of a 16 metre long 4 metre tall 44 tonner will be persuaded to take notice of a 10x8 sticker.

By the way the last time I drove a lorry through London I had a cyclist duck under the trailer of my lorry as I was sat at a red light, but luckily I checked before pulling away and saw his head sticking out! I have no idea what he was doing there.

.... which is why the 'angles morts' stickers have not been approved by the EU ....
It is yet to be proved if they are enforceable on non-french HGV's in France.

No doubt the French are waiting for a non-French HGV, owned by a major international trucking company, to kill a cyclist whilst turning right in an urban area where the stickers have not been displayed.
The case will then end up in the ECJ in 5 years time.

Lets hope for everyone's sakes that she does not get elected.
Europe does not need another Xenophobic Nationalist in a position of power.
