Got a bit of a problem with the Skoda (Fabia 17 reg) coming home from town I noticed the MPG forecaster was going off it's rocker. 1 minute it was showing 25 to the gallon then 297 rapidly reducing to 8 mpg and so on.

Any Ideas on what is happening? It's booked in for a service and MOT on the 20th

if you had it on instant display that's what they typically do. Even small variations in your foot position or road surface mean that the fuel flow rate will fluctuate. Switch to an average mode if you want to see something more stable.

A neighbor has just brought a 16 plate Fabia, last week he managed to get 84mpg (allegedly) on a 100mile round trip to Gt Yarmouth. I think its a 3 cylinder 1400cc Derv

Not relevant but that reminds me we had a Funster once who claimed an incredible mpg return on his motorhome. Anybody remember? :giggle:

My Octavia does that ... very high MPG when coasting downhill, very low MPG when accelerating up hill. Switch to average MPG rather than real time.

Incidentally, worked out my MPG at the service station today by dividing trip miles by gallons and got within a couple of decimal points of what the car was telling me. Happy with that.

Yes, my SEAT Arona (i.e. VW) reported figures are very close to what the pump reports. No sign of any tampering/inaccuracy.

Many thanks cmcardle75 , you hit the nail squarely on the head,:hi5: I must have moved the little switch/knob when turning the steering wheel.
