Hi ive bought a tv for my new 544,
Got it off ebay,
My question is this it only works when plugged in when im hook up,
Do the 12v socket on a 544 have power when not hooked up or is it the ciggie lighter that only powers up? do i need to buy a 12v tv dc adaptor to get the tv powered up
Sorry if i sound thick but the ciggie lighter hole is very narrow is it a thinner than normal ciggie adaptor?

A picture of the plug you are trying to use would help but if you have 12v sockets around the van they should be live, did you buy a meter ?

12 volt socket are live all the time, you could get one of these.
DIN Hella Plug to Standard Lighter Socket Adaptor 12v/24v for Motorcycle and Truck Amazon product ASIN B0042EYTEI
Also depends what tv you have.

First check the TV power input, if it has a transformer within the plug or lead itself, the likelihood is that it will run from 12v direct, so all you'll need is a 12v lead for it. If however it's a mains only one, you'll need an inverter to be able to run it from your 12v sockets (plug inverter in 12v socket and TV plug into inverter).

Your 12v sockets in the rear should be live whenever you haven't got the engine running and the control panel is turned on.

Probably best to say which TV you've bought so we can see the spec and advise more specifically.

Let’s start again.
You have two leads for the telly. One goes into 230v socket and one into 12v socket But both go into same socket on the back of the telly, correct?
If so it’s deffo a 12v telly so you need a Hella plug as @Manic showed you. (y)

Edit:- what you could do is buy a Hella plug and cut the normal 12v plug off and fit the Hella one.

On ours the dash cig socket only live with ignition but we also have a 12v socket by the tv which was built in from new which is continually live.

You need to ensure the panel is on for the 12v points in the hab area to work.

A good idea to check the TV from a independent 12v source. You did buy it off ebay .

So with the 12v ciguatera lighter plug he could put the ignition to just test the telly, sort out a Hella plug later.

Tv works fine on hook uo or in the house its just the 12v thingy, hella olug it is then thanks for your time answering the question, i was away in hamish last night and was awake drinking champers with my good lady, it was so mild we had the big window open facing out across loch lomond water was flat calm, ni phone signal tho so couldnt answer the post.
Cheers all

Before fitting a Hella plug look at the existing plug.
If it has a red ring on the end try twisting anticlockwise until it clicks then pull it off... The plug should now fit.

If not, What ever you do, when fitting the new Hella plug make absolutely sure you get the wires the correct way round.
The center pin wire on the cig plug goes to the center pin on the hella plug..... The connections look different inside, hella are usually secured with a screw instead of solder.
Get it wrong and you better start looking on ebay for another TV.
