Since Nov 2010 after 25 yrs under canvas.
I was talking to Guy Martin a few years ago. As I don't know much about bikes so we discussed motorhomes. He nearly fell for it here. Before too late just stopped and jammed Rouen until the police could back up all the cars behind and get him out. Very embarrassing!

No too difficult to realise a motorhome is higher than the average car I would have thought. The height restrictions are well signed.

Easily done. As a pilot I would never judge another who landed with the wheels up! It's only a matter of time!

I've heard about this Rouen underpass before and I'm actually terrified that I may encounter it one day. What is the height restriction?

Our van is a 5.4 m panel van and I have a sticker on the dashboard that says Height: 2.6m (8' 7"). Would we make it?

Best avoid at 2.6m I think. I'm sure parts are posted at <2.6m

It says India on my tyres but they've never been there. (Old joke but relevant.)

Don't trust a sticker on your dashboard if you didn't put it there.

Go out and measure it yourself and then, add 15cms (6") to the figure you've got.

It's 1.8 metres, just allows cars. Afraid you would lose your roof if you tried it. Best to get behind a Spanish /Portuguese truck, bus and follow them through Rouen

Just had a look on street view, not found that one but another signed as 2.4m where it starts, then further on suddenly becomes 1.9m when its way too late to do anything about it.

The first time I drove through Rouen, my hands were clenched to the wheel, just waiting for the evil underpasses to appear. And... nothing.

The next time, I deliberately took a different route, and... nothing.

I am very disappointed with Rouen.

Difficult to not notice these and then you have an escape gap, unless they thought they would be clever and dodge in the escape gap and missed the height fingers further back.

On the same link there is a caravan that has been jammed, in June, and the sign is clear at 1.8metres o_O

We nearly did the same there, without any obvious warning the lane suddenly starts to go down. My OH shouted stop. Luckily it was August most French on holiday so little traffic, managed to reverse back out and carry on.

We were in a tall RV trying to get out of a small medieval Spanish village, when Siân screamed "Stop" I stood on the brakes and as the van rocked on its springs the wadge of electric cables that were strung across the street from bedroom window to bedroom window in a casual loop, were just touching the windscreen. They must have been not more than 2.2m high That meant a long reverse, with a trailer!
