I don't think a VéloSoleX can be considered as a motorbike!Incorrect assumption...

I’m sure it was on this forum where someone posted a picture from when they were a tugger and had their caravan on a dry sandy pitch, the picture was of the very green long grass that had grown by their waste outlet while they were there...
It was an old picture, 20-30yrs ago... I can’t find it....
Absolutely agree with you it’s only soapy waterCome on for goodness sake! Im sure there is not one on here that has an Halo? We all have done something that you class as not acceptable? Be honest...Go on I dare you? I have done the same thing when I have washed out our tanks on the yard. I have pulled on to the road and let it down a drain . What is the problem?

I think it depends on the individuals grey waste.
Yours may differ from mine , I eat very little greasy food so most of my dishes are washed with cold non soapy water....if anything greasy I wipe it with kitchen roll first and there's maybe 2 drops of suds.
So then it only leaves shampoo and shower gel in my water and I don't go overboard with that either.
I don't even get much of a smell from my grey water.
That said I still wouldn't drain it while driving along and unsure why anyone would do that deliberately.
But I will certainly drive over a drain on the road and empty it there without a second thought.
Can I ask if it was a dry day or if it was raining when you were behind the motor home emptying on the motorway ?
No idea why you've quoted me as none of what I said relates to what you've saidSurely nobody would empty the entire tank while driving it would be insane and dangerous. I suspect that would come under dangerous driving. The residue is another matter but surely it would slowly dribble in the first mile. I’m confused why would you have all your plugs in while draining as it may slow down the draining. Have I missed something here is there a reason to leave them in? Just wondering if there is a reason ?
No, no need to send the drawings but thanks for the offer.
Obviously you are an experienced contractor and I don’t doubt that you carried out the drainage work as you described. I am still puzzling over the discrepancy in what you’ve said happens to the wastewater and the information the Water Authority’s website where it’s clear what their policy is, which is that all wastewater is treated.
I might even email them for confirmation that this is the case...

??now I’ve also got a quote from someone else not sure how that happened. I give up and I’m off to yoga ?????not sure either how that worked out
Old post but will still take part I fully understand it, that's why I do it If it takes me 20 minutes to empty my tank, I am not bothering you because you won't be in the queue. if someone is ahead of me in the emptying queue, I have a choice, wait, or dump elsewhere, simples!I never understand while vans let the tank fill up practically to full before trying to dump. We see it all the time here in France, sometimes nearly 20 minutes on the drain. Extra weight is not desirable. I like my little bucket, empty every day, no fussing looking for a drive over.
Shouldn't be allowed to bring them into the UKI'm not sure if I've posted this up before but here's a pic of a German Concorde owner who rocked-up in a small coastal museum car park just east of Thurso. His tanks were dribbling across the car park for the few days he stayed there - nice!

I agree it's not acceptable and would make me want to wash the whole vehicle. I'm just pointing out that they are close to home and it would seem strange tipping out waste there.
in scotland sutch water liquid on a farm would have to be dumped into an approved for the job soakaway and not near a watercoarse drain or any other run off .In my opinion this legislation is aimed at industry and governs their effluent treatment programmes. If there was a risk from grey waste released from motorhomes I feel sure there would be legislation to cover it. I can't find any that relate to this... can anyone?
Applying such legislation to discharging a few gallons of water containing washing up liquid, shower gel, and perhaps small particles of foodstuff is way over the top. Even on farms it is permissible to discharge a treated dilute liquid waste of very low polluting load to a surface water or to the ground.
When you consider what else is washed down our roadside drains motorhome grey waste pales into insignificance.
Stops the smell coming in to the van whilst travelling.Have I missed something here is there a reason to leave them in? Just wondering if there is a reason ?

That's the way coaches are designed. It's not only some motorhomers that do this, i was following a National Express coach on the M3 the other day when it dumped it's grey waste in the middle lane at around 60 mph i wished i'd had a dash cam.

Maybe when he got on the motorway the motion of the van sent the water to the rear and out through the tap. Either way its a nasty anti social thing to do.I'm surprised he had gotten on to a motorway before it had emptied itself and why was it still coming out when going, I presume, flat and straight? Could he be having a weeping problem with the valve he didn't know about? Do Rapidos have an issue with their grey drain?
