Even the most arrogant scientist would never claim anything as a 'fact' they would simply say that on the basis of the evidence available to them by diligent research or the evidence they had produced by experimentation they drew certain conclusions. They would always balance these conclusions by alternative possibilities or explanations and be prepared to discuss these and indeed be open to an alternative or modified opinion when new or different evidence is produced by other researchers or even themselves later.

I'd go with the experts, they are not desk bound, they work with the gas and patients everyday. If they don't get it just right, people die.
As for truck drivers, the dishonest ones used to have to take a real whack on the head when they pretended to be robbed and sold on their load, nowadays they just have to yawn and say "mornin"
Shame this thread closed 2 years ago - despite what the so-called experts say I and quite a few of my ex-colleagues have been gassed on several occasions in our cabs EVEN WHILE AWAKE. On 3 separate occasions the empty (hospital?) anaesthetic gas bottle was retrieved by the police within a few metres of the trucks. Once, in Spain, the thief was actually caught as he was leaving the scene. He'd obviously seen the cops coming because the container was under the cab. Driver, who'd just gone to bed wasn't totally unconscious, and was handed back his wallet & mobile phones by the police. Despite not being k.o'd completely, due to scumbag's hurried departure, he still experienced the well-known 'brain feels loose inside skull' bad head-ache .... Wonder who's right, those it's happened to, with visual & physical evidence, or desk-bound expert who's never been near a truck.... ? Ho hum....

Still doesn't answer how they got over a younger and more alert Bruno (5 at the time) 3 foot high and 15 stone of Great Dane who was a good guard dog.
Tis a mystery
Hi John
Mylo, (our Jack Russel) is a great guard dog, he makes a hell of a noise when he hears the slightest noise outside, can be annoying when he wakes us up in the middle of the night.
However, couple of nights ago I was restless and got up about 2am for a toilet visit and decided to have a drink of juice..
Mindful of not waking him up I crept through to the fridge, poured a drink then sat down and had a fag .. he never heard a thing.. I looked at him and was sleeping soundly.. so even dogs can sleep through noises..
Jim
