Not sure if it needs more air or less, but sounds like there was a build up of gases in the smoker and it suddenly ignited.Just herd what could only be described as a dull thud found lid off smoker at bottom of the garden

Possibly let a bit more air into it and improve top ventilation?
I'm assuming of course the venison is actually dead and the lid wasn't kicked off.
