Thanks for the "heads up" Ralph. (y)

My daughter brought me back a stout from the Ukraine. It was vile to say the least, and also ended up down the sink. Who can drink that sh1te? :sicker::sicker::sicker:

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Thinking of trying this tonight, been sitting in the garage for a few months. Got it from the Lakes last year. :drink:

Well I am stuck in the house and have been for a couple of weeks now, but I still have beer.

The vanilla and chocolate porter sounds like my sort of beer Ralph. (y)

I had this the other night, from the Elgoods Brewrey at Wisbech, about 25 x miles away, so fairly local.

It can be best described as malty and nutty. I really enjoyed it (y) but not sure I could sink half a dozen though.

Tonight I've been on the ....................

I missed out on my usual stocking up of Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale, as the day we arrived at Calais for the Tunnel, Macron had announced a lock down at midday. We arrived at Citie Europe at 12.30, so Carrefour was my only choice really, hence the 2 x boxes of 24 x 25cl Grimbergen (only €10 each), and a slab of 24 x 500ml St Omer . :(

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)

That was back in November 2009. ;)

Jim, who like me, was one of the originals, but he hasn't posted since January 2019, unfortunately. :(

Cheers :drink:

Sorry, I can't answer your question, as it's @Ralph-Dot's thread.

I am rather partial to a Thatchers Gold myself, especially on a hot summer's day. ;)
I shall keep my choice to myself until I hear otherwise, wouldn't want my submission to water-down this thread and open the flood gates for all and sundry, after all the clue is in the title;)

A pub in Minehead used to have Thatchers Gold Frozen on tap, like a grownup SlushPuppie, now that was good on summer's day when we used to be able to go out to pubs and the like

My beer of the week is <Broken link removed>

Quite pleased with it after the initial surprise it was lighter in colour and taste than Good Old Boy and the seasonal Dr Hextor's Healer.

Full Circle is fruitier where GOB is caramel

I can not drink Cider but why not.
Thank you!
We went to Brittany last year for the first time and sampled their local cider, and I must say it was very good, it has a earthy, musty taste, less sweet than your usual UK brands, also difficult to find stronger brews with most being less than 4%, I usually prefer the stronger scrumpy types. Anyway, to my delight I saw Lidl was selling some last week, so I purchased a bottle, dug out my Traditional Breton cider cup, closed my eyes and reminisced about holidays past and looked forward to holidays future when this sh!?storm is over
Cheers all!

I’m missing flat, room temperature cask beer and generally don’t much like bottle/can beer because it’s got too much gas in it. However, I’ve tried some Old Speckled Hen in cans this week, and I’m pleasantly surprised, hardly any gas at all - lovely!
One of my all time regular favourites, along with Abbot Ale. Some folks prefer the bottled versions, but TBH, I can't tell the difference taste wise.

Cheers :drink:

On a recent brewery tour I found out from West Berks Brewery that their preference is to drop bottles & just use cans.
Anything that passes sunlight degrades the beer.
That explains Newcastle Brown Ales' problem! :p (I used to like NBA but after a big gap I guess my pallet has changed...)

My preference is bottled beers but I've enough go to beers that are can based that I wonder if blind testing would show a difference or preference for either.

My go to canned beers are London Pride, Hobgoblin Ruby and Old Speckled Hen....

Thanks Steve. :)

It was given to me by a couple of old codgers, who used to take their Penny Farthing bikes to Belgium on the back of a trailer, then cycle round with a group of fellow enthusiasts, doing pub crawls.

I've not had a Gordon Beer myself yet. :(

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)
