I've yet to strip and seal my scuttle but having seen other peoples methods I believe this is a quite ingenious and cheap alternative.

Well done Andy a Great solution to an annoying problem, one that Fiat should have rectified years ago, where did you source the metal circlip/spring clip?

Can you confirm that the scuttle is the area below the windscreen wipers. Where is the drain positioned?

I wouldn't use a flat spade bit to drill the scuttle as it could snag in the plastic and make a right mess, I would use a proper cutter. I know you haven't drilled plastic in your test piece Techno, but anyone not sure might use spade bit which is designed to drill timber.

I have done something similar run 2 hoses fitted from drilled holes next to the wiper blade drive shafts also sealed joint in the centre of scuttle with silicon sealant and windscreen seal pulled away and smothered in silicon grease has worked well so far.
 
I used the same nozzle in our scuttle drain but also added a length of pipe so the water drained below the engine bay away from any electrics.
A well worth improvement taking less then 30 mins to complete.

All the posts re the water in scuttles etc prompted me to check mine over -it was sunnier today so had the bonnet up.In my Fiat 130 there is a 25mm dia. (at least) drain hole in the windscreen wiper arm well, with a drain tube that runs through the side of the wheel arch. The drain is located on the offside of the scuttle bottom.

just in case anyone else wondered if the lack of drainage encountered was for all Fiat engines(y)
 
The X250 scuttle has ONE drain slightly off centre. Even with a sealed scuttle to windscreen the PROBLEM comes when parked on the opposite camber as the water builds up to sufficient height at the other end to over flow into the engine bay through the bonnet hinge slots before it goes down the provided drain.
This is mine (LHD so reversed) on level ground so ok but if I park on the wrong camber it is no good.Drain in foreground.

The situation is probably worse on RHD versions as the leak will be over the fuse box.
 
Fun member GAVLAD obtained this extra part for me from a Citroen dealer as Fiat plead ignorance of its existence.
Very easy for me to fit as I have dispensed with my EGR pneumatic vacuum controller altogether now.
I think they intended the waste pipe to drop down the front of the engine but I found it better over the back of the gearbox

Not only Fiat plead ignorance I contacted Peugeot in Crewe gave them the part no and they said it didn't exist even though I said I'd seen the packaged part on the internet which was clearly labelled Peugeot / Citroen part.

I've ordered my star washers and waiting now for a decent day to fit the extra drains like yours.

On a separate note, have you ever fit DRL's to your motorhome?
LED.com have some nice ones which fit into the light recess within the bumper. - I know DRL's is a mucky word to some on here, but thought I'd ask all the same.

Yes I fitted their round ones, both suffered condensation but so far the replacements are holding up.
 
I've sorted our scuttle today I removed both sides and couldn't believe the crap foam water sodden strips that Peugeot had used. I bored out the tiny drains that Peugeot had fitted to the same size as Techno's and dropped the tubing down below the wheel arches.
I fitted double sided glazers tape to the scuttle where the crap foam had been fitted. then stuck it all down with Black Tiger seal. It took me 4 hours to complete the job, It was a lot quicker to fit my air suspension 2 hours than resealing our scuttle.

Anyway well done Citroen dealers and shame on the others who deny its existence probably because it is tantamount to admitting their design is rubbish in that a needs a solution like this at cost to the consumer.

That is fine Andy but my 16mm starclips seem a bit on the tight side, 17mm ?? I haven't a set of calipers to measure the actual circumferance, I know it needs to be maybe a mm less for grip.

Or how did you push them up when in situ on the scuttle ?
Perhaps you have mole grips instead of fingers, I'm a mere mortal and there is no way. I realise they need to be tight !

Did you use that plug socket to ram it on to a spare nozzle to widen/open the stargrips ??
 
I used a spark plug socket and hammer as pictured earlier. Obviously supported underneath. Not something you can do with the scuttle on the vehicle.

Yes I was thinking this when I saw your photo of it on your first post. I don't really want to remove my whole scuttle so it looks like a Sikaflex job. My scuttle has the gap which will be leaking at the centre/halfway joint too, so a splodge of black/grey, might get away with clear, gunge is needed there too but I just need a wee tube of something not a whole Sikaflex type tube. I'll try a double glazing workshop see if I can cadge something. Thanks Andy.

I've used the same ones from LED com found them to be excellent, fit lovely and Easy to do, what I did was to seal with silcone the rear cables that went to each individual LED light (5off) to ensure no water ingress
Ok so far
 
Just had a look at my scuttle today and it has 2 holes , 1 each side , that go through quite wide tubing out under each wheel arch . it is the x290 , so it looks like it has been improved .
