Thanks Figaro much appreciated I've found Parking4night looks very useful.

Go onto you tube and search for "park ups" there are a few videos showing how people who are full timers find free park ups, Google earth is a great help. Some of them suggest that some park ups on park4night can attract boy racers etc who just go there to annoy anyone parking up there for the night

We have overnighted at Port Erroll right on the harbour. There is a donations box.
Can be windy at times! :giggle:

May be useful to consider a site for first few nights away in case you need any assistance or advice and allow time to get used to setting up?

We have already spent a couple of nights in Wales on a lovely site and the 3 nights in Dunkeld which was a great learning experience. Wild camping is one of the great attractions of having a MH.

Wild camping is the main attraction of having a motorhome in my book otherwise its cheaper to have a caravan and car

We'll give it a wee go in Moray and Aberdeenshire and see how we get on. I want to test out the MH in terms of the solar panel and leisure battery plus the Gaslow system. I need to look at a responsible waste disposal plan. Not sure how accommodating campsites are if you just rock up to empty waste?

Very few campsites will let you just empty waste etc ....theres a few places listed on park4night where you can empty cassette etc in that area ..

But it pays to also have a spare cassette

Seconded - We are on night 19 now in Scotland - all off-site.
The biggest issue is emptying. Spare cassette essential if you want to stay away from campsites.
Most public loos are a NoNo. They all have clear signs prohibiting emptying chemical toilets (however if you don't use any chemicals in the cassette?? But you could upset people!).
Some campsite will allow it at but with a cost (between a couple of pounds and a lot of pounds - £12 the most we were quoted!)

If you don't eat or drink the cassette can last ages!

I guess it depends what you are looking for. If you need to be close to Ellon town centre then I'd just park in one of the industrial estates. Plenty space up by Brewdog. Big park and ride just on the outskirts there too, don;t think they have any height barriers. There will be loads of other places that will be more quiet and picturesque for you but just a case of going looking for them. It's not a busy part of the country.

Regarding the cassette, Deeside activity park have let me use their service point if I make a donation to their charity. Drive over grey waste disposal, chemical toilet dump and fresh water. It's just off the new by-pass so you will more than likely be passing it if going to Ellon.

I know the industrial estate where Brewdog is. Is Deeside activity park nearby?
