Looking at an ad for a van we might possibly be interested in with Motorhome Depot, it included the following:

This vehicle is owned by SIAC Retail Limited, this means that as a potential buyer, should you purchase this vehicle, if the vehicle is not as described, of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose you may have a claim under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Initially we read this as SIAC Rental and were about to dismiss it as an ex-hire van, then realised our mistake.

However, Googling SIAC Retail Ltd found this quoted sentence appearing in a number of Motorhome Depot ads. It also came up with SIAC Retail listed as a company started in May 2018 with the stated nature of business being ‘sale of other motor vehicles’. However I can find no website for them where they actually have listings of any vehicles for sale.

Does anyone know who this SIAC Retail actually are? Are they maybe a part of Motorhome Depot that buys people’s vans and then sells them on, rather than just acting as a broker?

Appears to me that as well as being a broker for other people's MHs they are also buying and then selling them on their own (company) behalf.

Since 2008 & many years tugging
They did have a sister company a couple of years ago that was a dealer run by the same directors. That went bump.

Long enough
One person works there (Director and Secretary) and probably only writes, stamps and dates paperwork under instruction and your chances of recompense if anything goes belly up are probably minimal.

Just saying ........

Motorhome depot used to be in Sutton in Ashfield, I am guessing SIAC is something along the lines of Sutton In Ashfield Campers.

Yes, they have a base near me in Redditch. They were extremely helpful when I urgently needed a garage for MOT a 5 tonne van (with a pit) and pointed me in the direction of the people that they use

Obviously an associated company.

It’s great putting forward the name of a company to sue if things go wrong, but it’s newly incorporated with no known assets.

There are hundreds of motorhomes out there for sale. Best to keep off any suspicious looking fly by nights. It's your hard earned cash so why risk it. I did earlier this year and it cost me over £20,000.
