Hi top
Exp
2017
Good afternoon Funsters,
I am looking for opinions on the purchase of a small scooter.
I have 3x in my mind. 1) Honda Vision 110cc 2) Peugeot tweet 125cc and 3) Peugeot kisbee 50cc.
I have a full motorcycle licence and an enclosed trailer to transport it behind the motorhome.
Any advice is gratefully appreciated.

1 up mainly but there will be times when my wife will be a passenger

I have a Honda SH125. It's like a scooter (keeps your feet dry) but has large wheels, better for anywhere that's not smooth tarmac. It's better than a small scooter for taking a passenger. We also have an SH100, and the SH125 is so much better for longer trips exploring the local area. I got it in 2002, it's done nearly 30,000km, everywhere from Denmark to Morocco. Also fitted the biggest 2-helmet backbox I could find, regularly filled with shopping. The only downside it's a bit heavier than a small scooter (4-stroke, water-cooled), but in a trailer that's no problem.

Have a look at the ones from Sym, cheaper than the usual makes but still as good - we've had a few and can't fault them at all.

Second vote for a 300 X max, but what is your maximum weight for the scooter?

KTM Duke 390 light fast and will pull two no problem. I had same dilemma and was thinking same as you until funster put me on to Dukes

I've heard a few bad reports about small Peugeots recently, I believe they re mostly made in China. I don't understand why you re going for such a small scooter if your trailering it? We ve got a 300cc Aprilia Sportcity which was the largest scooter I could get in our previous Arto. I think the Honda SH's are pretty good but then there are some cracking maxi scooters out there if you ve got the room.

btw you can get some huge top boxes for Honda Vision's :LOL:

We have the suzuki address 110cc it comes in under 100kg so you don’t miss the 15cc that you get with a 125cc.
Two up it’s ok, 60 mph is the best you will get dropping to 50pmh on hills.

Bit of a wild card here. I just bought this Lexmoto Impulse. You need to be careful of range but it has more oomph than your typical 50CC due to it's lightness.

Lexmoto do a range of very cometitive electric bikes/scooters. The E-LEX is very light at 70KG.

Our Lexmoto imploded In Spain, fortunately whilst my friend who lives there was out getting supplies, so he had to push it home. 😂 when back in the UK I called to book it in for repair with a local bike garage.
The proprietor then said “ oh dear that’s a shame, do you know I’ve never failed a Lexmoto on a Mot test” Really I replied “ yes it’s true, they don’t normally last that long”
So he gave me £50 for it to use as spares and sold me a Honda SH125 which has been fine.

The SH125 is 4bhp more than the 110cc that's half as much again 👌 our Honda 110 vision is a bit slow pulling out of junctions 2 up.

Try and get one with a kick start for back up because as you probably know you can't bump a scoot 🙄

Thanks for that cheery story!

Anyway I shall console myself with fact is has 2 years warranty, 3 years on the battery, Also not a lot to go wrong - Bosch motor and battery. Cost less than the average electric bike and goes more than double the speed.

P.S. No Tax, no oil or petrol, very minimal servicing required.

I’m sure yours will be fine this was four years ago when the issue was that dealers couldn’t buy spares for Lexmoto’s, that’s probably changed now.

Suzuki Address. It is a Honda Vision look alike. But has the advantage of a kick start as well as an electric start. That way you can start it even if your battery is flat because you have not used it for a while.

Oh and a lot cheaper than the Vision

If weight isn't a problem I'd suggest going for something with more than 125cc. Smaller bikes are, in my opinion, dangerous if you end up having to go on a UK dual carriageway to get into a large town. If you like Honda then the SH300 is a good option. However if I towed a trailer with 900kg capacity I'd go for a full size motorbike or at least a maxi scooter.

I have to "suffer" a 300cc Vespa as that's the biggest I could find over 125cc that would fit in our motorhome garage

We bought a piaggio medley 125s abs. It's a 125 and really light but still goes well up some really steep hills around us two-up. Best of all there's enough space under the seat for 2 helmets plus other stuff; I can get a weekends shopping under the seat without using the bag hook up front. No hot bits on the outside so you can ride it in shorts with no problems over burning legs on silencers. 2 channel (ie front and back) ABS abs the smaller wheels are nimble around town, but it's still stable at 100 kph. Highly recommend having a look at one, as not having to faff around with a top box is absolutely brilliant.

We had a Honda vision 110 and did over 700 miles mostly in the mountains in Spain winter2019 never said No! But down to 12mph on some hills, change to a sh300 which was great lots of power. But found it very heavy to load with my dodgy knees, now have a Peugeot 125 tweet nice and light plus 16" wheels and twin rear springs which I find much easier to load and handle,it is s rebadged syms symphony which is s little cheaper.

Just been through the same process. I've got a couple of motorcycles, an 800cc and a 1600cc and initially planned to carry the 800cc on my side loading trailer. Decided that for the type of journeys we would be using the bike for it was overkill. So, decided to get a small, lightweight economic run about. After much deliberation, bought the SH 125i, great little bike, ticks all the boxes and has 16 inch wheels, a significant feature for me.

The power of dreams!
They did some fantastic commercials eh (i hate commercials, but the Honda ones were a lot good)
