We need a propane cylinder and all the gas / fuel stations are not supplying it. Do we need to look for a campsite that supplies it?

Well it does depend on where you are.
If you are near Benidorm there is a big gas depot next to the out door market area that does it

If you do buy remember it's very difficult to buy high pressure hose over here.

Either go to a Repsol depot or stop a Repsol truck, remember the Propane bottle has a BLACK ring round it to differentiate it from Butane.

We are near Valencia. We blithely assumed it would be freely available (stupidly) without checking. So am i right in thinking we can’t just use butane? It’s cold at night so I guess not

I wouldn't recommend you use Butane. There's been an awful lot of bad gas causing blockages to fridge and boiler jets. I've had to strip out the fridge burners so now on propane and all ok. We've also had butane freezing overnight.
A new bottle full of propane is available at about 30 euros plus the regulator.

thanks
Do you suggest we get it from the supplier mentioned above?

Hi, I have a full propane cepsa bottle €23 we are in Javea. ? Bob.

Buy an old butane or a propane one from the nearest market or car boot sale. Going rate around here is around @€10 for an empty one. . Then just swap it for a full one at any Repsol or Campsa garage or any camping site. Swapping for a full one "ie refilling" is around €17.

Thanks we don’t get there for three weeks! But maybe we could buy it then from you?

Where is it available from? We are in Segorbe near Valencia but it is Sunday....

Most Ferreterias (hardware shops) have gas bottles to swap

Can we just buy a full new bottle of propane plus regulator from Repsol? Doesnt the regulator have to be expertly fitted? Sorry getting more and more confused here!

Oh and the regulator clips onto the bottle

It depends on your set up, I would think its probably the same as mine. ?
In that case you need a valve and high pressure hose depending on what you have. ? Bob.

Yes ours is like that. Which supplier do those? Repsol? Do we need a contract with to pieces of ID and an address?

Jaws, if we go to this depot will they sell us an English calor gas Or do we still need a regulator and pigtail hose etc?

Jac Sprat can you clarify what’s regulator you are using ?
Is your regulator on your calor bottle or do you have a hose from the bottle connector to a bulkhead mounted regulator.
If The first then you need a Spanish regulator that can be jubilee clipped to the hose.
if the latter then you need the correct pigtail and a jumbo bottle adaptor. This clips to the top of the Spanish bottle and the hose has threads at both ends that attach to the connector and your bulkhead regulator.
Obviously you still need to source a Spanish cylinder.
Some people with a Spanish cylinder use a cylinder mounted regulator and back feed into their system via a bbq point ( I’m not getting into the discussion whether this is good practice.)

It's a Spanish depot, they won't do calor and I would expect that they will only sell the Spanish bottles of propano and doubt they do regulators or other bits. It's just a bottle depot. There is a shop opposite the Raco site in Beni that would fiix you up with adaptors and hoses etc.

this is what we have.

Which don't appear to be refillable cylinders but a Calor propane cyl. Therefore you will need a spanish repsol or cepsa cyliner , with black band around & a regulator to connect to the existing orange pipe .although spanish regulators the pipe pushes on ?

Thanks we are visiting Repsol, the gas company today, phoning first. Someone on our site had his converted by them.
Thanks Armytwowheels , still figuring it out ! Xx

Are you on a campsite? The bigger campsites should be able to sort you out with a spanish bottle and the campsite shop will have the regulator that you need. I had the same problem last year.

Means you will be stuck carrying your empty UK bottle around.

I pay €12-14 for cespa

We have just been to the local Repsol but they dont have the regulator.
Benicàssim is nearby. Does anyone know the name of that shop? We could ring ahead
