Having looked to trade up our 2008 Swift for some time and wanting a fixed bed I was studiously taking the length in to consideration for parking etc.

Having found our perfect van at the show I suddenly realised at 7' 9" it was four inches wider than my old Swift at 7' 5" and the Bailey's are even wider at 8' 1" wide.

I wont be sqeezing into tight car park spaces and down narrow lanes so easily as having got so far in to the process I could not resist.

Oh well time will tell.

Know exactly what you mean! That's why we went the other way and changed to a 6.4m van conversion - nice and skinny.

It's the same with cars - they just keep getting wider. A real pain. Fashion. (n)

Looked at a Bailey at the NEC a year ago. Decided against, partly because we weren’t convinced about the build quality but mainly because of the width.

They're not wide, our 101 inches, excluding mirrors and awnings is wide :)
Don't say it too load as it's 3/8" too big to be legal.:D2 Or 15,4mm

I was always a bit wary in my previous motorhome an Autotrail with long mirror arms if going through a village that a pedestrian would get a smack on the back of the head

I think @Jim has knocked somebody's fag out of their mouth without doing any physical damage.

235cm =92.52 inches you must have 8.5inch of muck down the side, get it washed then you will be legal again.

I don't do feet and inches anymore so can't follow the thread

With Brexit, I thought I might get berated for quoting metres:whistle:

My Mum got stopped by a cyclist to ask the time, as she stretched her arm out to make her watch visible from under the cuff of her coat she caught the cyclist and he lost his balance and fell off his bike.

Would have loved to have witnessed it - sorry

Which is why I invested in a pair of mirrorguards as mirrors are so expensive :LOL:

We were conscious of the width of our Frankia especially in narrow roadworks, we now have a PVC and it is so stress free in narrow lanes.

Nope other way Merc Star line one of the few at 2.35 & the Tramp.
2018 model Exsis I, Exsis T, B class Dynamic Line, B class SL, ML I, ML T are all 2.22, the Van is even narrower.
OK just to add to the confusion, on Hymers website the new B Class SL is 2.22m wide, picked up a UK brochure today and in that its 2.35m.:(

A couple of years ago we had just left our friend's home near Canterbuty, heading for Dover and France along a narrow lane, when 'white van man' came hurtling towards us on an undoubted mirror-collision course - however our mirror survived with a minor blue paint streak(still there) but I think his was broken - German 1 Ford UK 0.

Could have been a bummer of a start to our trip as 'A' Class mirrors are not off-the-shelf, and could have cost a lot in France.

My MLI is 2.2 ish and it is a lot easier than my old Chausson to get through breathe-in gaps.
