We are very new to this mo/ho-ing malarkey but i pulled the last blind across the cab one night and was just 'hit' with a feeling of ... errr. ummm, well, i don't know what it was but it was just the best feeling (family and generally being lucky most of the time aside) so i still don't know what to call it but it was good?! So just got me wondering what other people feel is the best bit for them ?

We bought ours to tour, mostly mainland Europe but we've had some good short trips in the UK.

But being snuggled up warm and dry somewhere with a storm lashing outside is a nice feeling. :)

It was the escape from work , now I’m retired it’s losing its appeal , so may be one less of us on the road ??? or perhaps it’s because there's not so much solitude now ,not sure , but enjoyed a lifetime of it so no complaints , to all newbies enjoy ( again that’s why the avatar )

Thanks for sharing ? it's very interesting to see what other peeps feel is the best bit- we also love being able to up and go even if is only 2 mins down the road to take advantage of amazing coastal views with a ready to go van - even if it's just for a cuppa or dinner, we still have some ties (through choice) so we haven't total freedom yet but still love to just have a wander locally because we can and are lucky to live where we do. we toyed (very) briefly with the idea of a caravan but having spent several days in a Moho decided it was that 'tortoise' effect we were after. We are a tad concerened that we may have missed the boat a little re solitude that Servo mentioned but hope we can still find some somewhere!

Freedom and not having to set that alarm clock for work ( both early retired ) Absolute bliss ! Being able to come and go as you please. We have spent more time away this year than at home, and when we get home itching to go away again. Life is for living, Get out and enjoy

At this precise moment sat in a relaxing chair on an Aire overlooking the Dordogne river with the sun out and a beer in my hand.

And later a second beer ....

1. No airports
2. Get away from people.
3. Ability to go where our whims take us.
4. Having the loo 3 metres behind me when travelling:ROFLMAO::giggler:
5. Having the fridge 2 metres behind me when I stop.:drink::drink::drinks:
6.MHF!;);)(y)

We love the freedom of it, seven months on mainland Europe, lots of time away in this country, weekends spent meeting friends. We can go where we want, when we want, brilliant ?

Don't feel too bad - it's started drizzling here in the last few minutes...

After many years under canvas, it’s great to be in the MH sat in my pants with a hot drink listening to the radio or watching TV while it’s lashing down with rain outside. And knowing that when you do get dressed, after washing in hot water, you will be putting in warm and not damp clothes. Aaahhhhh ?

Love being able to just set off whenever work allows and know that we have everything we need with us. I sleep much better in the MH and feel like we are on holiday from the minute we turn out of our street - no horrible airports and carrying luggage around.

Great thread (y) (y) (y) , just what I needed. I've been fed up with the whole thing lately due to problems with the van and becoming a miserable old sod.
The rain on the roof (Scottish sunshine) snug, quiet, my own bed, completely self contained with no one in your face and most important, touring the best countryside in the world, my beloved country.

Nothing quite like it is there;):)

In no particular order, feeling secure in a scenic spot, being able to follow the sun - far easier to chose destinations at short notice than having to book accommodation and then try to change it. Having everything we need with us. We also love being able to find a site within easy commuting distance of European towns and cities, Valencia Camper Park being a great example.
The strangest “benefit” is not logical but very real. We feel that we are able to get a great holiday relatively cheaply, although we ignore the initial cost of the motorhome!

What a luverly bunch you lot are! Don't think i can reply to all of you separately! Its lovely to know that an expensive black hole, sorry, i mean motorhome, means many different things to people but ultimately makes life better (in most cases) in some way, big or small. We havn't been abroad yet but the people who have are very inspiring, as are others who are happy to 'pootle' about their own country or county even. I am glad my simple question brought forth all these responses- from sharing pics of treasured moho and scenery and experiences and feelings, i have been left with a very warm glow and think our moho journey will probably encompass some of what you all have expressed, a passion for beautiful surroundings, beer and more beer(and odd drop of gin!) just wearing pants (possibly?) in a cosy van listening to the rain, grateful for not queuing at airports, not having to find a public toilet in a hurry, taking a favourite human/non human along, catching up with friends and family and definitely sleeping much better, in fact to sum it up as previously posted " There's nothing quite like it is there?"??❤

Your own micro-environment with all your favourite little things ( a home from home) that you can transport to pretty much anywhere you like -- new horizons and familiar living, the best of both worlds.

Just knowin you can set off wenever without avin to book !!
Even our little dog loves to sit in it lookin out of the door , she must know we're gettin ready to tour
Then stoppin for a brew n a butti wen n were we choose to
Freedom.......
