Still dropping clangers and making it up as I go along
If you are interested in Birds the Red Kites at Gigrin farm is worth a look. Phone to check what they are doing as they apprear to be open from the 27th. I think they also take MH and Caravans as can be seen on Google Earth but check if they have hard standing available.

Doug
I was there a few weeks ago and thought it could be a little tight getting a larger MH in. I arrived early and some of the overhangs on the buildings at the time made me think about the larger MH and access. But park in town and walk down a spectacular site that is like something out of Hitchcock. Another consideration is what 800 birds eat does come out take your cover and if the Mrs can't help engage a small child or 2

We had an interesting, but wet, week in the Welsh Marches recently.

CAMC sites at Brecon and Chirk were as expected: good facilities, hard standing, EHU etc.
CCC Rhyadar was closed because of a water problem, so we couldn't get in.
What used to be CCC Oswestry (same tel no as in CCC book) was good and they advertise buses from the site entrance: typically one every 2 to 4 hours and they go round the houses to get to Shrewsbury and Oswestry.
Britstops W83 was excellent, with good value items in the Visitor Centre and a quiet night's sleep but lots of dog-walkers in the morning and evening.
Britstops W64 was good but had barking dogs for much of the evening. Breakfast was more expensive than here in Norfolk but if ordered before 9:30am it included fresh orange juice and a hot drink.

We looked at a few other Britstops but they didn't appeal to us: c'est la vie.

Powys is very generous in allowing overnighting on their carparks BUT most were not for us.
TomTom tried to take us down a narrow road in Builth Wells, which actually had bollards preventing access.
Rhyadar is very sloping, with a little bit of almost flat parking at the very top.
LLanidloes was again accessed down a narrow road and the parking looked quite tight.
Newtown has a large flat area beside the river and quite pleasant, just a short walk into town.
Welshpool has a large carpark which has gentle slopes in many places. Again, a short walk into town.

Each to their own - enjoy!

Wales!

It's cold, damp and the local white fluffy inhabitants don't talk much.

Not for me.

.......and you'll get them if you come in contact with the locals.

That said, I've spent a load of time wandering around the Welsh hills and it's a fab place so get camping :)

On day 3 ( after you stay in Haverfordwest) cross the Cleddau Bridge and visit Broad Haven ( South) Freshwater West, Freshwater East and Barafundell Bay ( reached via Stackpole Quay).

Google them all, but don’t miss any.

I can not recommend the St Fagans National Museum of History highly enough. It is also referred to as The Museum Of Welsh Life, 4 miles out of Cardiff, admission free (except parking)

Been going going there since I was born !!

Anyone remember it and the location in the 60/70’s ?

Does anyone with local knowledge know the best way from Pencarnan Farm to Whitesands Bay, I looked on google earth but the imaging there is shocking, in London you can swivel round buildings and look around, there seems to be the forgotten land :) I have an 8m motorhome so don't want to get stuck up a narrow bend with tight corners, also don't want to be driving through farmers yards, Thanks(y)

These seem to be the choices so far:

YES! It was pretty good in 1973 but I gather it has been improved.

Yes, I agree with this Chris, think you advised me the same when I was in the area a couple of years ago. I loved St Davids, it's got a special atmosphere.

I also enjoyed the site in the centre of Cardiff. A great vibe in the city.

I hate St David’s Debs.

But that’s to do with past rugby related stuff:)
