Been looking forward to today for ages.

We're off this morning, staying at Canterbury aire tonight, tunnel in the morning. Then we're staying on the aire at St Valery en Caux tomorrow night and moving on to Honfleur for the rest of the week. If anyone's around come and have a drink :xThumb:

Have a great time

Have a good trip.

We are heading over for a few nights on Friday, but not in the van.

Have a good trip and watch the weather.. :xThumb:

The weather looks ok in Honfleur according to my app. A bit chilly on Thursday.

I should add though that I think my app was developed by Michael Fish.

Honfleur !

That's in the cold bleak north.

Put your foot down and go Party with Brisey in Benidorm. You'll have to order ice with your drink rather than chip ice off your drink. Just 1100 miles, a stroll in the park.

Enjoy ! Just avoid the Alps region at the moment ( unless you like sledging with the van !! )

Love Honfleur, never been in the winter though. Hope you enjoy it.
Yep, us too but not with the mh - have a lovely time......x:-)

Plenty of pics please if you can :xThumb: And any other useful info greatly appreciatedx:-)

Safe and sound in Canterbury. It's cold but the Alde is working a treat. No photos but who needs to see a car park in Kent? :xThumb:

Ideal stopover. £3 with water and waste. There's a pub just outside that isn't dog friendly and in the Fun spirit of not leaving negative reviews I won't talk about our experience when we went back later without the dogs to eat.

About 3/4 mile down the road is a great pub called The Phoenix. This is the second one you come to. About 1/4 mile past the cricket ground. 4 good local beers and friendly people.

Perfect place to overnight before a morning ferry or tunnel. The £3 includes the park and ride so next time we may come a day early and wander around Canterbury.

Next update hopefully from Saint Valery tomorrow. :xThumb:

Considered it but with various school and work requirements and no dog friendly ferrys I would have spend more time driving than drinking so that trip's staying on the list for now.

We had a nice comfortable night in Saint Valery en Caux. We arrived to clear skies and bright sunshine and it was a hell of a lot warmer than Canterbury. When we stopped for lunch at a motorway aire we sat outside on the benches to eat.

Saint Valery is a lovely town built around the harbour. The aire is great, located at the end of the harbour right on the beach and about a 1/4 mile walk into town. You need to purchase a token for water from the tourist office for €3.50. We found that one token more or less filled two vans. There are also black and grey water dumps but no electricity. It seems to be free to park at this time of year but isn't in the summer.

The town is great. There was a bit of a Christmas fair going on last night with a lot of illuminations. We found a couple of nice bars and had a wonderful meal at the Restaurant du Port which seems to specialise in seafood. You will need at least some basic French to communicate though and the handwritten menus take a bit of deciphering!

We've all agreed that this town is worth a lot more time than a one night stopover so it's quite high on the ever growing list of places to revisit.

It's another lovely mild morning and we're about to send the boy into town for fresh croissant before heading on to Honfleur.

It's lovely to read what other people are up to.....especially when we are stuck at home where it's still dark, very foggy, cold and 4 inches of snow on the ground:xThumb:
Have a great dayx:-)

The £3 includes the park and ride so next time we may come a day early and wander around Canterbury.
Which is what we normally do, or on the way back home.
We too weren't all that impressed with the pub on site, and find Wetherspoon's in the town better.
The Aire at St Valerie en Caux gets extremely busy in the height of the season, and can become an unpleasant experience, ie, too close to each other for comfort and hemmed in. :xsad:

Enjoy Honfluer. :xThumb:

Cheers,

Jock.

Honfluer is a lovely old town, lovely bars along the harbour and nice shops

There were quite a lot of vans on it last night. I didn't count but maybe 20

It's a lovely day in Honfleur. Bright, sunny, quite mild. Almost don't need a coat on!

The aire, even though it's huge, is pretty full. Had a wander round the town and let the dogs have a run on the beach. Hopefully going to find somewhere for dinner later.

The signal isn't good enough to post pictures so will put some up when we get back.
