Have the same problem; only it wasn't only the water in diesel warning light that illuminated when cruise control on. The glow plug light also lit and the thermometer reads from -39c to +89c. Apparently it is a well known Fiat Ducato/Peugeot Boxer instrument fault.
We've had to ignore it as a fault indicator as the lights go off when cruise control off (except the thermometer fault). We're in France and may see whether we can get the instrument cluster repaired.
Search on the Tech forum as there's lots on there. Not prepared to pay £800 as some posters have warned. In the U.K.there are specialists who repair the clusters for £150 but you have to send them the panel and they return them a day later with a lifetime guarantee. We could probably get the work done under our 3 year Lowdhams warrant but we've found them so crap, that we may not bother.
After the holidays here in France, we may see whether there is an equivalent repairer here. I have no idea what's involved in removing the instrument cluster so would need a mechanic to do this.
It has taken the gloss off this trip as everything was going well until we turned on cruise control! Bit peeved really, as it appears Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen know all about this problem and do nothing to sort it.
I hope that you get it sorted.

Just to clarify on the thermometer readings; I'm not talking about the van's water temperature but the ambient temperature digital read out. Drove down to Burgundy where the temp was showing as 39C but it was decidedly chilly when filling up with Gazole.

Neckender-may I ask whether it was very expensive or was it under warranty?

A little of topic, the way to reduce water in Diesel. Always keep the tank full when standing to reduce condensation forming inside.

Thanks for that I`ve Telling people for years to do likewise when Laying up a vehicle. (Part) Empty tanks encourage corrosion too due to increased Moisture Content, applies anywhere. Central heating Tanks used to fail for similar reasons!. Though Most modern vehicles have "plastic" tanks. (and most C-H Tks too)

The biggest potential issue with moisture in fuel tanks in the development of bugs......better knows aerobic bacteria, which can cause smelly black sludge blocking things up.

@Ingwe ours was done under warranty and Peugeot said it would have cost £899 out of warranty, I would get in touch with Peugeot, Fiat, and push to get yours fixed as it's a known problem.

John.

I would be inclined to say that "another potential problem" rather than the biggest potential. 40 years of running fleets of diesel cars, vans and my personal motorhomes. It is never a problem I have encountered.

But, I am in no expert.

Depends on the use... two friends with horseboxes have had issues plus it is a fairly common issue in marine engines. The theme running through that is infrequent use and standing around for lengthy periods.

We made quite a bit of business out of water and fuel testing winter laid up yachts in Germany

We won't be back in UK before March so it may have to wait till then. Or it might be possible to get M&G to authorise the repair by a main dealer here in France.

Funny enough, just had a recall notice from FIAT for my MH, Burstner 890i, regarding the ignition switching cluster. A few months ago I noticed the ABS light come very faintly when I was in 'cruise' but went out driving normally. I mentioned this to the dealer when discussing another matter and he said they would look at it when the MH came in for a service. When I got the recall notice I rang the dealer and he said they had also been contacted and were being advised of a recall regarding 'feint' warning lights illuminating on the dash. Apparently its a known FIAT issue....

I think I had this issue but just assumed it was light bleeding from the cruise control lamp. I didn't do anything about it as I didn't perceive it as a real problem

Hi All.
Same problem of dimly lit warning lights. Ignored it until now. Thinking of sending it off to the Cartonix people that @TheBig1 mentions in his post.
Questions: How easy is it to get the current cluster pod out and
how?

Happy new year to all.
Regards
Nik.

Well known problem. I ended up having 3 replacement panels under warranty. Have also had one on our 2015 Peugeot.

Am going to ring M&B (or whatever) and ask how they want to deal with it as we are in France until March and can't drive around with dodgy warning lights! P*sses me off that the dealers are aware of this fault and don't take proactive steps to address the problem. Will never buy another Peugeot/Fiat/Citroen product.

I appreciate that one can just turn off cruise control, but that's not really the point. It should not be faulty and it is apparent, as airwave above said, that in a cost saving exercise, the manufacturers are using cheap components. Shifts the costs onto us via higher warranty costs!

Will be going down to portugal on the 16th so normally do about 3000 miles by the time we get back.
To late to get a fix now so just have to risk it.

As previously said I have had 4 new panels but remember on yourPortugal trip there are no faults apart from in the panel. The cruise control works as normal and you don't have water in the fuel. Relax and enjoy and make sure your garage has a new panel ordered for your return.

As I and other posters have pointed out, there is at least one repairer in the UK who can repair the instrument cluster in a couple of days, for £150 odd and offer a lifetime warranty. But unless you can go to them (and they're based in Hampshire) you have to send them the cluster. I have no idea what is involved in removing the cluster and reinstalling it following repair. So to an extent dependent on dealers and arguing the toss with warranties.

No longer under warranty 3.5 years old.
Every time I go out in this pile of s..t there is something to mend.

@laurieash-know exactly what you mean. We are relative newbies. Bought a second hand Bailey with less than 5,000 on the clock and every trip reveals a new problem.
