hi everyone

i'm stuck with a problem, so i've recently changed my Iphone 7+ to a Iphone 12 pro, when I had the 7+ it connected to my Victron Smart Solar controller and Victron Orion Smart charger with no issues whatsoever.

Since changing phones, i've uninstalled the Victron app on the 7+, made certain in the bluetooth menu's no Victron items were showing, and even turned the 7+ off so its not interfering with the new 12 pro.

The Victron app on the 12 pro is showing both items as being there but when i try to connect them to the 12 pro, nothing happens. I did once see them in the bluetooth list, connected them but then they disappeared again and i've failed to see them again.

Any ideas anyone as this is really baffling me

cheers

Al

You could try to forget the device in the Bluetooth settings on the new phone. Then scan for devices again. Once paired, open the app and try connect to it. Make sure you enter the same pin for pairing if you changed it.

neither are showing in the device list list Raul

i'm really stuck now with what to do next tbh

Not in device list on the app? Or in the Bluetooth on the phone? Is Bluetooth enabled?

no they are not in the device list on the phone, I can see both in the device list on the app

I've just read on the Victron website that if all else fails to try disconnecting both lots of cable completely to "reset" the controller and charger but thats a right b@stard to do if i'm honest but it seems i've tried everything else :(

I had a similar problem but partly connected with a dying and (literally) disintegrating phone. Eventually solved it by uninstalling the App and then downloading it again. Why that worked (eventually) is a mystery, possibly connected to an App update?

tried that Steve, even resetting the phone by turning off/on again, its really got me baffled

Delete devices in the app.
-open settings then Bluetooth and see the device there. If is not there, you need to reboot the victron devices.
- if is there, forget the device. Re scan for devices and re pair. Default pin 000000. Once paired close the settings.
-open app and search for devices.

I wish I could explain how the fix worked! 1 minute I was swearing fluently at it, the next, 2 seconds pause to check eyesight, then more swearing to proclaim its return to normal working! Bonkers!

1 delete the hole app and it’s contents. Re install it without scanning for devices until you pair in the Bluetooth settings.
2 power of any victron device you try to re boot. If is a solar charger, pull the fuse or positive battery out. Wait for the led to go out before reconnect. When it starts new cycle it reboots all functions.

Dont have experience of your setup but do you need to make the victron unit “visible” again, i.e. broadcast and show that it’s visible to the phone. I think what I’m trying to describe is pairing them again.
sorry if this is absolutely no help but been my experience with Bluetooth devices and iPhone.

im guessing this will be no help?

thanks for trying to help, i’ve tried everything apart from fully disconnecting both devices electrically as they suggest seemingly as a last measure.

I can get to the solar controller easy enough but the charger is mounted low down under the side seating so a lot more difficult for me to get at.

2 new hips, needing a 3rd, 2 low back operations and full of arthritis doesn’t help tbh 😉👍

the one I know is on the way out i’ve had for 24 years so it’s fine well tbh, I don’t get pain from it but it won’t “go back” when i’m walking or even stood upright and makes me stoop forward so I end up with terrible back pain.

Getting old ain’t nothing to look forward to is it 🥲🤣

Can anyone tell me as i’ve forgotten

When I reconnect the solar controller which pair do I connect first?

Is it the battery pair first to power it up and is that the time to start the app and try to connect to it

cheers

My hips are 11 and 5 years old respectively, but the younger one has never been quite as good as the first.
I don't mind the pain, Al. It confirms I'm still alive, and that my legs are still attached ... 🙄👍

HELP!!!!!!!

so i’ve totally disconnected the MPPT controller, left it for 30 mins and i still cannot connect

Had anyone else got any ideas as i’m totally flumaxxed now

Al

After disconnect, you re connect the battery first. In fact leave solar until later.
Have you powered it and does not appear on your Bluetooth? Leave the app a little.

You have PM.

Yes, access to both fuses, (in and out) or cable access to the unit.

So we’ve established the issue could be with my iphone 12

has anyone else had an issue with a 12 and the latest ios system

every other bluetooth item i have works perfectly btw, it’s just the Victron stuff 😟

That will teach you getting new tech 😂

So does anyone know how to reset Victron devices using the puk code via the app or any other method

I don't use the bluetooth a lot with the Victron kit as I find it too temperamental although a reboot of the phone usually solves my issues, however I have noticed that my phone which is Android will usually connect if I disconnect it from other sources first i.e Fiat handsfree/ media kit.
