Hi,

I’m looking for a vacuum cleaner recommendation? We have so far carried the Vax Gator we use for small spills at home with us when we travel and then when we’re back at home give our MH a once over with our main home Dyson Cyclone V10 cordless.

Problem is the Gator, while rechargeable is 240v and I can’t seem to find a 12v charger for either it or the variant of Dyson we’ve got (plus the Dyson is quite bulky). What do you use? I see you can get car chargers for some of the smaller handheld Dysons.

Ideally would like something I can keep in the van, maybe have 12v powered with a charger wall mounted.

Cheers

Rich

I bought a Dyson V6 Car and Boat version from Go Outdoors. Got a good deal because I had a discount offer, but it still was not cheap. Works very well, in fact got more dirt out of the carpets than the wife's Miele did. It comes with a 12V and 240V charger as standard. It worked so well that I bought a long wand for it as well as a wider motorised head and now use it at home. Just need to remember to put it back in the motorhome before we use it.

Same as @Northernraider but I think mine maybe a newer version.
Bought it a little while back when Amazon were doing a deal on it for £26.
Nice long lead so reaches all areas of the van.

Amazon product ASIN B015FO9XF8

We also have the Dyson V6 car & boat, hated paying the price for it but it does work well.

lid l have a rechargeable one in at the moment, I know nothing about how good it otherwise it might be but their electrical are generally pretty good, £49 if memory serves me well.

D.

We had a Dyson boat jobbie.
SWMBO hated it and it didn't last long on one charge.
Now got a Black and Decker 12v and seems ok.
I also bought a Makita cordless a while back as I use the batteries for work so it made it cheap.

We’ve had a handheld Dyson V6 for a while, I bought a spare battery for it and charge it when travelling via an inverter. It cleans the carpets and upholstery brilliantly.
In October we bought a new van in France. It came without carpets which we were concerned about and thought we would get a set of carpets made up.
But, after 10 weeks away in it, with a dog, we wouldn’t have carpets in a van again. Not only is it easier and faster to clean with just a brush, we don’t worry about minor spills, they can just be wiped up.

Same as that.
Our carpets are out and stored at home, we just have a small runner down the middle now.

Dyson for us too, they have 12v chargers, got our from eBay if memory serves me right. I’ll loo for link

Got a Dyson V6 - got one half price on Amazon. Works really well
Refurb I take it.
Depends what ½ price is, Currys sell them at £220, I paid £150. Still too much for what it is but works well and you get both mains & 12v chargers.

I did have one and sold it on fleaBay (honest).
It went for a good price, even though I slated the noise it made and its gaudy colours.
At least the winner was unable to claim that it wasn't "as described"!

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Daft question possibly - I have read a few ads for MHs (Concorde/Morelo) where they reference an "Integrated vacuum cleaner"... now as I am looking at LHD German A class - the ad is usually in German and my schooldays were a while ago...

Do they mean a screwed to wall type or "plumbed in" US style vacuum?

We used a small Dyson for a few years but now have a GTech mini thing which has a revolving brush at the end. It is brilliant at removing dog hairs, infinitely better than the Dyson which just er, sucked, so to speak.

But we do have an inverter to charge it. :)

We ended up just bringing our Dyson V10 and the rotating bar carpet attachment, charge it when on EHU and as long as we keep it on low power it lasts a few days between charges so good enough for us.

Not a clue but you can bet the price on the options list will be eye watering
