Evening all
Is anybody else experiencing delays in receiving their V5 currently?
It has been just over three weeks and still nothing. I appreciate that Wales was on a lockdown recently, but thought that V5’s were computer generated.
The last one I done, took approximately a week.

If its changing address this is done on line and I got my V5 within three days. Complete registration name change well I understand that is a different story

It depends, changed to a private registration last Friday on line and got my new V5 on Tuesday.

Sorry, it was change of ownership

Done 2 reg changes in the past month and both back in 3 days. 2 changes of keeper and back in a week.

Received ours by the end of the week, dealer registered in on the Saturday, new vehicle and we had it by the Friday and it showed the correct weight increase from 3500 to 3650

Thanks for your input guys. I will attempt to contact them this week to see if there is a problem.

It took 6 months for ours to come back. It was sent off to correct a mistake. I had little success in contacting them and when I did they couldn't comment. They eventually wrote to me telling me the information on V5 was incorrect and they couldn't issue a replacement!!!!!!!!!. That was why I bloody sent it to you I wanted to tell them. Anyway with their letter was an email address where I could send the info they required. Then a new one was with me within 3 days.

Mine was 3 months in the coming. Change of ownership.

We swapped two cars and bought the MoHo within a week, plus both cars had to come off & new ones go back on private plates. All but one V5 arrived within a few days; still waiting for the last one. This was early October. We still somehow part-ex’d the vehicle to the dealer.

Brought a new car Sunday 6 November and new v5 came 4 days later. My hgv letter renewal has only just come through which took an extra week(d47p) . Will call Monday to see if I can get a medical quickly if not will just fill in to get the 1 years extension rather than wait for appointment. My understanding is that they are prioritising hgv renewals so hopefully get it back before we are booked to go away 17 Dec. What did amaze me was that when I called them I actually got through lol.

Good luck with that one, they are a nightmare to deal with. I was given the wrong answer 3 times before finally getting my case escalated and sorted out with no other information supplied.

I had a similar experience. Got nowhere with the DVLA for months, and no further recourse as I wasn't deemed to be a key worker. Wrote to my MP. Sorted within 2 weeks.

At work we applied for 2x Truck V5s on the same day in August via V62 forms in same envelope

One took 10 days and one took 8 weeks

I cannot work out how , in any operation, that can happen. Even in a pandemic

Because their performance( or lack of) is not dependant on their job security, its just chaos.

All private businesses in the pandemic, still have processes to follow to remain efficient

DVLA, DVSA,HMRC have just “embraced” the ‘bugger-off -home - and -sod -the - customer’ because the customer will have to wait and I will still have a job

Sounds like I could be in for the long haul then. 🤨
When it does actually arrive, I have to take the private plate off which is going to go back to the previous owner. I bet he’s getting worried 😧

Being a key worker made no difference to me. I just got through quicker to someone who could help!

What’s being a key worker got to do with anything?
It’s a change of keeper on a V5 not a driving license issue

It's illegal to sell a vehicle with a private plate if it is being retained, reg has to be changed before you can sell it.

Did they get line F.1 right with the Max Mass?

He tried to remove it on the day be bought it. Computer said “No”
The trouble was that he had it registered as disabled. You have to remove “that” status before you can remove the plate.
We managed to remove the disabled status at the post office who also done the change of keeper for us. Are you telling me that I can’t return his plate then?

If you bought it with that plate on you would have register the van then put the plate on retention then you could transfer the plate to him. You can do the retention on line and you instantly get a new number. They then post a statement that allows you to buy the new plates, you don't need that if you buy the plates on eBay, that's what I do.

I found out the hard way with a car years ago the owner put the original plates on but it was registered with his private plate he was above board just neither of us knew the procedure. At the time DVLA had local offices and they sorted it out for me.

No, no. All was above board. Currently I own his plate as I bought it with the plate on the vehicle. Just a gentleman’s agreement to put on retention for him and then return it.
