I didn't realise MAD made windows, there's nothing on their web site about selling them. Was this a special order for you? Are they as good as Outbound? I'm guessing they are cheaper

They are now making windows, which look very similar to Outbound, Ill let you know about the quality once I get it back next week, as i'm also having a crawl through installed. From initial views on other vehicles they look good, Obviously not outbound good but fairly close which is reflected in the price. They cost about 2/3rds of Outbound costs.

Like the double opening window, front-right, which presumably opens fully as a large hatch. Only ever seen one before on the Silk Road website.

Yeah this is located by the seating area, so if you want you can open the window or the hatch which opens out and give you the feeling of being outdoors.

They are built in Wörth just outside Karlsruhe.
They were built at Gaggenau originally and the Unimog museum is still there.
There’s a tidy Stellplatz down the road.

I worked with a guy from Karlsruhe.. I didn't know that Unimogs were made near there or I might have organised a visit... I last drove one in 1987 in Belize... Prior to that, in 1986 in the Falklands...

The Mog is home with new windows, cab crawl through and roof rack / Brush bars.
Really transforming into an expedition vehicle now.

Some pictures of the windows fitted, Really good quality. Double glazed glass with stainless steel sliders and solid aluminium latched. They have the bulit in Blinds with the fly net as well.

Started fabricating some headlight upgrade for the mog, Ive finished the nearside. This should make a huge difference compared to the current candles.

Pretty much. lol. Although shes not toooooo bad on fuel. 160L tank and ive done 380miles and still have 1/4 tank left.

Very close, Just got a few more finishing touches to do. I estimate about 35hours so hopefully in the next couple of weeks if I put in a few hours each night. I cant wait to head out for the first test camp.

Anyone have their spare wheel on the roofrack? Need some ideas of how to get mine on the roofrack and off again considering the tyre and wheel weigh in at close to 200kg.

Yeah that's pretty much what I need. I saw some swing lifts on e-bay which also look pretty good.

Cant you get it anywhere else as thats a lot of weight high up , especially as unimogs have quite soft coil spring suspension ?

OTOH this might give you idea


I just carry a spare tyre casing on my roof rack . Complete spare is on rear .
