I'm a newbie
Hi all - we have a new Chausson, and the grey water outlet is just a drop pipe underneath the centre of the van (there is no grey pipe coming out to the side). Draining is difficult unless we can find a large drive over grey water drain, as it’s difficult to line up a small outlet pipe that we can’t see under the van!

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions to help? Maybe a get a grey side pipe fittted? Or attach a flexible hose (would mean crawling under the van every time!) We don’t want to carry a bulky wastemaster!

We have the same. We usually find a drive over drain or a layby sloping the right way.

That sounds very odd. How do you open the outlet?

Ours is a pull handle just behind the rear wheel arch. Quite common on MH a few years ago our previous one was the same.

Check out the Chausson owners facebook page as some folks made a waste piipe. Also Contact Rivers Motorhomes Stratford upon Avon, who are really helpful, but very busy as developing a great reputation for service. Cannock Resprays may also be able to help.

Well if the valve is opened by a pull handle that's easy to access, all the OP needs to do is extend the pipe to wherever it can be seen easily for positioning.

Provided it's a clear run to wherever it's taken ( and downhill!)

I have similar and I have run a rigid grey pipe to side of van, by the pull handle. Works great.
Only thing is, I wish I had come out of the tank with a “T” and run it to both sides, with a tap at each end. Then I could empty out on either side depending on the position of the drain.

ps. Another thumbs up for River Motorhomes.

We bought a camera and screen from eBay for £25. The advert said 'explosion proof camera'!!

Just took a feed from fuse box under steering wheel. Threading wire was most difficult bit. But now so easy to drive/ reverse over drains. Had for last 10 months and haven't needed to clean the camera yet. Fitted small switch and camera folds down when not in use.

Yes you're spot on. There's room for about ten below deck::bigsmile:. Should've said screen, not camera, folds away.

I fitted one of these bends and the tapered adaptor underneath my Benimar, bought them from and aquatic centre....then attached a flexible hose to the edge of the mh.

On my Benimar I used the flexible coupling shown above and a length of standard 1.5 inch waste pipe so the outlet was at the side. Marquis do listen to customers apparently, and all new Benis now have a side exit for the waste. Pity Chausson haven't done the same.

Chausson must have different grey waste designs depending on the motorhome model. My 2019 530 has the grey waste outlet at the side just behind the o/s rear wheel with the pull handle located just above the 90 degree outlet bend.

Oh the joys of motorhoming😁

Ours is 2014 and I think one of the last to have just a central dump point for grey

Wait for it ....INCOMING!!!
I remember when we rented a MH before buying our first one standard advice was just stop near a roadside drain and dump the grey. I would still consider the grey from our tank cleaner than the water coming off the outside when we wash it.

Our 2021 Globecar is like this. Blooming nuisance. We are rarely on sites with drive over drains - mainly on CLs - grey water in the hedge! Currently we use a plastic container designed for draining oil into. (Much smaller & lighter than wastemaster) We sort of guess correct placing, open the leaver and re-position! We then have a piece of corrugated pipe, with sufficient tape around one end, to stuff into opening (having removed cap) to direct water to hedge. Water does still leak a bit from the outlet on the tank, but not much.
When the van goes into for its had service they are going to see if they can put an extra pipe going to the edge of the van. Apparently they have done it for other makes. It just depend what the underside is like. It is not something we could do ourselves.
