Yesterday we had a French motorhomer ask about the UK sticker, I think he thought it was Ukrainian, bloody silly idea changing from the old GB sticker. I tried to explain it was since Brexit but he didn’t understand that.
Also we have been over since early April and only seen 4 English motorhomes and no Dutch or Germany like we normally do.

We had a French lady ask us exactly the same question were we Ukrainian after explaining she went on her way😊 I have left the GB sticker on as well so might have confused her. It’s amazing at how many UK reg vehicles had no country ID plates at all and still had old EU number plates 🤔

I think it was to placate NI, nothing to do with Brexit, just coincidence.

You can still have EU plates if you have the UK sticker. We do. :)

But the implementation by HMG is laughable.
As far as I can see, HMG say you absolutely must have a UK one, AND remove any GB or Eu emblems. However it appears it's only illegal once you're over the channel... duh.
I imagine everyone will be fine as long as you don't annoy a Gendarme etc

It was to include NI into the U.K. GB does not include them just England, Scotland, Wales. All to do with Brexit and the border.

I cannot see what the need for displaying country of registration in a foreign country has got to do with the border.

Please explain more in words of a single syllable.

Nothing to do with a border, it was to 'right' something which has been wrong ever since NI became part of the UK, 'GB' excluded one of the actual countries so by using UK now it has dealt with it. The change was brought about after Br.... but it wasn't caused by it.

Last October I had an English couple who lived in Spain asking where we were from & a Spanish woman taking a photo of the back of our van. Meant to remove the UK sticker from the back of the van before this trip but forgot, no one asked about it so far this time.

Versilles full of Dutch people, will send some over to you ;)

We have had the same dilemma. I thought about buying a UK sticker but then thought, no it wouldn't be right. So just sticking with GBM on number plate.

At Plymouth port there were loads of Vehicles with just the old GB getting on thr ferry to santander.

So the GB was changed to UK to include Northern Island.
So why is it every Ulster registered van I see has a IRL sticker on it, one in front of me tonight.

Thinking about getting rid of my UK stickers and going back to GB on the numberplates.

I have still got gb on my number plates but a uk sticker on the back a couple walked passed the van the other day and could not understand the reg then he sent his wife over for a closer look

So we have the GB left on and the UK added. Now my wife has decided to decordate the big white empty rear of the van with f;ags of countries we have visited. To start with she has France, Spain, Wales and England. We will add Germany and Italy this autumn.

This could confuse some i guess!
