I suspect we may be the only passengers. :(

Planning on a slow trip south through France towards Spain and hoping to encounter a few Funsters on the way.

Am I missing something?
No, I'm still here and sadly will be remaining here. But the mind can travel. :)
My plan is to travel south and see what can be discovered. :)
We will be landing in Brittany tomorrow. Is anyone there, physically or otherwise?

Is this a virtual trip ?
Will you be giving us daily updates on your journey and Charlie's blog of course ?
Should be interesting
Just think of all the negatives you won't need to worry about...
Grumpy French locals
Folk parking 6 inches away from you
Poor exchange rate
Road tolls
Rowdy Germans

What we need is one of those rolling scenic roads that they used to have in the old movies so that you can sit in your van on the drive but feel that you are going somewhere?

DBK since this started I have been opening my fun trip book at random and spending the day, metaphorically where ever it was. Only once so far decided I really didn't want to spend another day there especially not in my mind
Enjoy your trip don't know Brittany very well so will be interesting to follow.

It's a calm crossing so far but might be a bit choppy later. Looking forward to arriving tomorrow even though the wind will pick up soon after landing. :)

DBK your trip maybe virtual but President Macron's lockdown extension to 11th May isn't. Be prepared to print your virtual 'Attestation de placement dérogatoire' multiple times;)

I’m at Saint-Jean-de-Monts Aire John, the weather is lovely and will be superb by the time you pass by, I’ll have the wine chilling and a few beers in the fridge for when you get here.....?

?

At least it can be sunny all the way no matter what the weather decides to do

Anybody know if John DBK has managed to land as yet?
I've got some concerns. Is it not close to lamb blockade season at the French ports?
Hope he's not stuck mid channel!:( We'll never get food parcels to him what with extended delivery schedules!
Perhaps our advanced party roving reporter Just smiffy might be able to get some local info?:pray2:

We landed safely this morning after a very calm crossing. It didn't seem as if the ship was moving at all. :)
After stopping in the port in the area set aside for motorhomes to have breakfast we spent the day exploring Roscoff. Fortunately, the cannons they have installed to keep the English away were not manned so we were left in peace.

Roscoff has been a major port since the 15th century and was fortified over the years as you might be able to read from this information notice we found near the harbour.

This old house has three holes at the base where I assume cannons could fire from.

This notice records the call by de Gaulle in 1940 for Frenchmen to join him in England to continue the fight against the Germans. You can find similar notices elsewhere in Brittany. This one, if my rusty French is of any use records a young "Roscoffian" Theo Gillet leaving on a ship for England to join like minded companions.

Roscoff is famous for its onions.

And in this house...

...which we saw first in 2019 and it is still for sale :) Alexandre Dumas wrote a chapter on onions for his cookbook. It may be the smell of the onions has not yet cleared and this is why the house hasn't sold yet. :).

We are going to stay the night at the old railway station which is now an aire (CamperContact 79402). We are the only ones here for some reason. I thought it would be more popular. The town was very quiet too.

We will be heading that way in a few days. Do you need me to bring you anything? We couldn't buy any toilet rolls or flour in the UK before we left. Have the French shops got these? :)

Plenty of toilet rolls, but not a lot of flour, at least in the supermarkets round this way.

No problem with either of those here in the Lot. And dried yeast made a welcome reappearance last week in Leclerc. Fresh yeast has been available in our local bakery since day 1.
