Just a tad..
I’ve been searching the forum and google to try to find an answer, but failing... can anyone advise of a mainstream brand or model of TV or monitor (don’t need a TV tuner in the screen) that is compatible with running off 12v. I want to avoid inverter use, but a step up to 16v or 18v is very achievable with the correct 12v adapter.

Pre requisites are must be 1080HD and edge to edge screen. The screen will be mounted on a retractable screen mount so needs to be within a maximum 54cm width and 38cm tall. I appreciate screens are measured diagonally in inches but... 😉

Many thanks in advance

I think all the Cello Traveller brand of TV run off 12v.
Many other mainstream TVs also have a 240 to 12v transformer but can run directly off 12v.
You'll have to check the dimensions of your chosen model

What about this

That Finlux looks as though its 52 x 32 without the stand..................sorted

a lot of tvs are 12v and come with a step down transformer for mains use you need to look at the transformer to see the output voltage

Tried to get a Cello as British made but full HD out of stock in size we wanted so just this week got a Sniper 22”. Full HD, 2 usb, built in dvd, freeview, freesat. Brilliant picture. Runs off 12 or 240v.

Yes I’m aware of this... thought I would ask to get some input as to which mainstream manufacturers ones I should shortlist.

I thought that was the case until I started looking at them these days they are very few that step down to 12 v I suspect they are based on computer monitors and a lot are 15,18,19v. We got a 12v TV/dvd from Aldi its not a bad picture the sound could be better not sure if it can be used as a computer monitor.

Bump - does anyone know of a non leisure orientated mainstream manufacturer who has a model range of 1080 products that steps down to 12v at the monitor/tv end please?

We use the Cello. 12v / 240v DVD, satellite, digital and anologue signal, freesat, hdmi with a firestick powered from its usb

A lot of people trying to help here.
You asked initially about a TV maximum of 54 cm wide which is just over 21 inches.

Now you are wanting around 24 inches................ and does it still have to be
"A non leisure orientated mainstream manufacturer who has a model range of 1080 products"

It's really hard to help out .

Watching a cello traveller now works well off of 12v with dvd hdmi and a firestick running off of the USB port also has a 240v/12v transformer also have a 24" smart TV that can run off a small inverter, but a bit big in the new to me moho

Perhaps better to find the TV that suits your size / facilities needs then work out what's required to run it? No modern TV is inefficient in it's use of power and as you have said there are a number of laptop 12v-to-whatever PSUs available. They're based on inverter technology but without the consumption overhead of a mains inverter. You'll not get a good answer to your original question because manufacturers don't regard it as important enough to publish and most people on here will be using relatively small screens from a few known makers. Others using larger screens will either use laptop PSUs or mains inverters.

Really? Why is it difficult to help out? This forum is about sharing knowledge and experience to support each other. I am really not sure why I have solicited this response from you?

I simply asked a question about mainstream TV’s running on 12v. 54cm is indeed one access of the dimensions I provided. TV’s are measured diagonally, so 24” will fit.

Selling a Tv on classified it’s vision plus runs 1080, brand new, 23.5 inch screen not sure if it what your after? 👍🏻

Avtex are the best

I think you'll find any tv/monitor that has an adapter in the lead - ie runs on 12 to 19 volts dc (and hasn't got a fixed mains lead) will work fine without any converter.
I've just made a lead to cigar lighter plug for my LG TV which says 19vdc on the back & it works fine.
I also have a Sony which uses the same plug but haven't tried it as its a 40" so won't fit in my van!
Hope that helps
cheers Chris

That's what I always think when we get this question coming up of exact voltages. The mains voltage varies so the low side will follow it 🤔 with regulation circuits inside the TV if needed.

Take a look at LG we bought one out in Spain when our s broke and it is a great picture works off 12v😊

Yes and the 12v side varies up to 14.4 during charging. I must admit I haven't left it on until the leisure battery goes flat to see if it goes off as I have a solar panel so it doesn't!
I used to sell second hand tv's & remember when a 5" colour 12v TV was about £300 😳 - I finally realised they had started making normal tvs with mains adapters that actually ran on 12v - for a 'normal' price, we sold loads of them 😁

We currently have a celo, it is 12v. Sound not good, looking to upgrade to an Avtex
24” L249DRS-PRO......w534 x h311 x d47mm. it is 12v.
Be a little careful getting a ‘normal’ 12v tv with transformer, it might not be designed for fluctuating voltages from a battery eg. When charging up to 15v so could damage tv.
