I just watched a flight (on Flightradar24) from Rome come in to Newquay airport (which seems quite busy, whilst Exeter airport is dead). It would seem, therefore, that visitors from Italy are permitted fly to Cornwall, whilst we who have been locked in and are symptom-free, still cannot get into our MH and drive there from the neighbouring county for a few days away with no need to go near anyone.

Where‘s the logic?

Illogical, but stay in Devon, it's a lovely county

Yep, it really is and we love it here. We also love Cornwall dearly, but won’t go until restrictions are eased.

I wonder where the people on the flight from Fiumicino are staying? Certainly not isolated in a MH...

Almost certainly not what it seems. Cornwall Airport is closed and as I far as I know, even in ‘normal’ times there are not any scheduled flights to Rome. The airport is used extensively for pilot training by the likes of Easyjet and pilots needing to keep their flying hours up which may explain why it looks busy on Flightrader, but the planes are empty and the airport is closed.

“Our terminal is temporarily closed, with all scheduled flights to and from the Airport suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Aerodrome remains open to support vital services such as the Cornwall Air Ambulance, HM Coastguard Search and Rescue, Military operations, business aviation, charters and aircraft storage.”

I saw that plane land, checked on Flight tracker, its 23 yrs old so I’m guessing its at Newquay to be scraped.

Is 23 years the life expectancy of aircraft now ?
I know they're scrapping A380's less than 10 years old but I'd have thought 23 was a youngster ?

Brace yourselves Cornwall! Sadly I think you can expect an influx of people from tomorrow onwards.

I live quite close to the A38 ,one of the main routes into Cornwall .
Apart from the first week there has been a steady increase of traffic for the whole period to and from ,cars buses, freight .
Essential workers ? Who knows?
Traffic today would be pretty much as normal day so far.

A usual walk up around the seafront today:
the Barbican pubs shut but kiosk cafés open with social distancing .

1 chippy open click and collect with a table in the doorway to pick up from.
Has been like that for a while.

Up on the Hoe and towards West hoe seafront ice cream Vans ,tea huts and even a full English from 2-3 sites to take away.

Even local plod call in for a cuppa all social distancing and with out drama .

On the boring assumption it was not a freight, training or scrapping flight.
Or the Cornish reverting back to 'traditional' "freight imports"

Then it is bound to have been an Italian godfather flying in on his personal jet to spend some lockdown time in his second home on the Cornish coast.
;)

Or as guest's to a certain foul mouth celebrity chef

We would like to go off in our Dobby tomorrow very locally for a bit but are also concerned that we will get a bit of abuse from others thinking we have legged it down from up country so havn't decided what to do yet ?

Shame we don’t have regional federal autonomy like Australia. Instead what we’ve got is fractured national governments. That way areas with low infection rates could protect themselves and livelihoods until other areas caught up. The current free-for-all increases the risk of a second wave for everybody. Restricting access via trunk routes and turning people back would be fairly effective in reducing numbers. Big queues yes, but the solution is simple! There’s always a few ‘country ways’ and rat runs, but anybody trying that in a large MH or, worse still caravan, will soon learn the error of their ways and the contempt of all the cars backed up behind them!

We do here in spain & that is why they declare a "state of emergency" so allowing the government be the only ones making the rules & give them there due when we have started out of lockdown they haven't hesitated to keep Madrid, Barcelona, Costa del sol and others back from allowing accesss to the next phase of unlocking.
You do have devolved powers to the other countries in the Uk & all the hymn sheets are different?
