Parked illegally on Council Carpark , ( I phoned Council) there were 3 shiny Motorhomes and 2 caravans, I hope ( me being suspicious) the chassis / number plates haven't been changed ! First time I have seen Motorhomes used by these law abiding citizens!!Not.
Council said they are sending a Specialist Team to talk to them ? Council also said they are not serving them with non- payment notices for not paying!! Also they have provided waste bins ,one, for each Motorhome and Caravan , and will be checking the welfare of children and animals.
I told Council the Woke community attitude has gone too far she said that's our process , I then gave up telling her I don't blame her personally. šŸ˜”

You'll be lucky, 3 have just been moved out of the wife's works car park, they just used the alley between the buildings for any kind of bodily function!!!

Is this at Felixstowe ?
Could be, with have cliffs ,where the elderly can't walk down to the seafront because of health issues and age, I have asked for a lift of some sort, but, the cost seem to be problem , but they have given us free WiFi in high street and seafront ,also spending millions on Beach hut village on seafront, bear in mind there are so many pensioners here I call it God's Waiting Room.

I hope the police check the reg numbers tally with the vin numbers
I was stopped by a unmarked Police car in may 2020 during covid (same 17 year old Zafira my mate used to drive when he was in the force).

Got a ticking off for using the wrong lane at a roundabout. long Story !

Few minutes later, I arrived at our local park. Travellers had removed the concrete barriers and set up camp. Police car with two bobbies in sat on watch.

I Turned around at the top of the lane and as I did so. A quad bike with a teenager riding and two young children came flying out of the cemetary gates. Cops did nothing. Two transit tippers were blocking the entrance to the park (on the public road).

Typed in the two reg plates of the tippers, neither had Tax or Insurance.

Mentioned it to the people on the street, they said they are taking turns to watch the street.

One Law for us, none for them.

And yet they pushed through an anti trespass law while folk were distracted by covid to deal with this very thing allegedly but the only people the plod will use it on are the odd one or two Van's parked off grid

The law now which was put in force July 2022 says Police can move travellers on ,IF , they cause damage or misery or distress to local communities, so how do you prove that to the Police ?

It wasn't snuck in, they discussed it a lot. It was batted back and forth between both houses and has turned out to look like pretty a good law. I agree we'll have to see how it gets used in practice but on the face of it, its good.

I know it seemed every van lifer made a video about big brother cracking down on their lifestyle, but that was just for clicks, and most were talking rubbish as usual.

As I understand it, it won't affect the odd one or two vans parked off grid at all. Rather Section 61 will affect them if they are on private property, have caused "damage, disruption or distressā€ and are refusing to leave. If that's you, tough, you deserve to be nicked, buy a field of your own:D

Section 62A allows them to move on an encampment on private land or the highway of 6 vans or more, if there is suitable council accommodation in that local authority.

Both sections give authority to seize vehicles from those that they have directed to leave if the individual(s) have failed to remove their vehicles or have attempted to re-enter the land as a trespasser within the prohibited 12-month period.

Are we not all wanna be travellerā€™s? Just that we have the politically correct jobs to afford it? I would also say that we mainly donā€™t break the law and donā€™t have criminal records, we donā€™t tarmac drives and cut trees down.

Times have defo changed. I remember as a kid a local place that we use to drive past on the way to school. Traveller wagons and horses grazing in the verges. Donā€™t see that anymore.

The laws mentioned by Tam and Jim have been used recently in Bristol. Some may have read about it. But basically lots of ā€œvan dwellersā€ parked up on the streets. Made loads of mess, had no facilities. Incidents of fires that sort of thing. They all claimed human rights, whilst moaning that the local church had turned the water supply off which they had been using to get free water and used as a dumping ground.

Basically free loading!! Not paying any rates, whilst expecting others to suffer the consequences.

Iā€™m not saying either is right or wrong but unfortunately the bad ones ruin it for everyone else.

People like Tam shouldnā€™t be given hassle for travelling about in his motorhome. But Jim also shouldnā€™t have to face legal bills if travellers decided to pitch up at his place and not move.

Then again one big reason the U.K. wonā€™t adapt an aire system is due to anti social idiots who take the P1$$. Boy racers, travellers and everyone in between. Easier to just say noā€¦

To be fair, you wouldnā€™t want them as neighbours.

My father in law has a family on the end of his Victorian terrace. They have cordoned off the end passage/road/street. Put up no parking and clamping signs (itā€™s a public right of way with parking). Even got a big trampoline up !.

Then there is another nearby street. They have put an EHU cable out of the window. And had part of the family living in a caravan parked in the street. Council do nothing.

Though the council officer did offer to fine my wife for parking 6 inches over an H bar on the same street !.
