Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป Please be gentle, I find this really confusing and I've looked at lots of other threads before asking ๐Ÿ˜
I'm researching the most appropriate mifi for us for better internet in the UK and (first time) abroad (France) and think I'm settled on TP-Link m7450 or m7650 (can't seem to identify the difference in these other than price?)
But I can't seem to get an answer (even from TP-Link chat) as to whether the unit can be charged from 12v usb rather than on EHU?
Also, whilst I'm here, can I check this is a good option for streaming TV on the actual TV and on my iPad (we have a firestick and Google Chrome device) and working on my laptop (Wi-Fi enabled)?
Thanks in advance ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

Yes to both ๐Ÿ‘
Fab, thanks! Any idea on the difference between m7650 and m7450? I can see a difference with band compatability with the m7350 so happy to go for the newer model but not sure if the m7650 is overkill?

One is max 300mbps and other is 600mbps.
That appears to be the only difference

Aha! Thanks! I'm thinking 300mbps will suit with what I've said we need, (usual browsing, streaming tv and working on laptop) does the mbps affect the amount that can be done all at once, ie bandwidth?? Don't really know what I'm talking about though ๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks so much for your help. Now to research the right SIM card ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I use Popit SIM for our T P Link, used it all over UK, in France and Spain no issues

I have a 7350 and can watch I player and Amazon Prime on our home TV so the speed on both of those should be ok for most things.

I've got the TP link M7350. I generally leave it plugged into one of the 12v USB charging ports when we are away. I use a 120GB EE sim from Amazon because there is no monthly charge, it just lasts a year max. This really works for us because we still work and can't go away for long periods and sometimes not every month where a monthly plan would be wasted. IT's agreat little device btw, always seems to receive a stronger signal that my phone which is also on the EE network. I've been known to put it on the roof or up high on the branch of a tree before now in poor signal areas

If it has a USB power input then it will charge from any USB source. The U in USB is for Universal. A 12V USB adapter converts 12V battery power to whatever the USB charger asks for. It could also be powered from a small USB battery power pack, of the type used for charging phones. That could be useful if you go out walking or biking.

Late to the party, but I installed the TP Link M7350 and Firestick in our van last month with an RWG 200Gb data SIM which they sent over to France. I can endorse everything said above as it works fine in the parts of the country we have covered since then.

Success with the advice, many thanks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Using a TP Link 7450 with a Popit 100Gb ยฃ25 sim (lasts a month) and a month free trial of ExpressVPN. We had a Firestick in the van but something made me take a Google Chromecast just in case. Turns out the Firestick won't respond to the Remote (despite changing batteries) but it's old so probably kaput. Using the Chromecast to stream UK TV on the moho tv and watching Skygo on the iPad Pro. Couldn't cast skygo to tv on Chromecast but can't in the uk anyway so ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ My only query (for next time) is can you cast skygo to a moho tv using a Firestick? And I've already used up 8.75gb of the 100gb sim with just an hour max of streaming for 3 nights and an hour a day (3 days) max working on emails. That seems a lot but I have nothing to compare with. Any comments?

Data usage for streaming doesn't seem excessive. As I said in the post above, we put 200Gb on the RWG sim for ยฃ20. If your Firestick is new generation, you should be able to use that remote to control the TV.

You can download an Firestick remote app, if itโ€™s just your remote broken

The TP Link M7450 is a CAT 6 device, the M7650 is a CAT 11 device, in real terms the speeds you get from either of these will be similar however the M7650 is likely to perform better in fringe signal areas, it does this by aggregating signals on three different frequencies and using 256-QAM modulation.

Just on the 120GB EE SIM (which I use too) - I assume you're using this in the UK only. Because in EU there's now a roaming charge required before it works (don't get me started on it any more than that !!) so I have dropped EE for our visits to France. However if you have found a way around the roaming charge, please say.

It's not exactly a way round the roming charge, but when my contract with EE business expired I just let it continue rather than accepting one of their cheaper deals. I have just been to Italy and got a message to say my UK limits were valid for no extra charge - result (y)

I haven't been outside the UK this year but in September last year it worked fine. Presumably this has just been introduced this year?

Think you will struggle with SkyGo on Firestick. We gave despite following sideloader instructions.

Indeed, just this year. Likewise it worked perfectly Aug/Sept 2022 for me.
