I get cheesed off with websites that demand to load my computer up with cookies the instant I visit them.

Frequently I will rather close the browser window than allow further invasion.

Why is it that these companies insist on writing cookies onto my computer when I browse? Don't they realise they will miss my business completely due to their intrusion?

At least now you know they are doing it
In the past they were not required to tell you they were doing so
As I understand it just about all selling sites use them

Quoting a few examples would be helpful.
Pretty much every web site that is flogging something, all the news paper sites and most information sites.. Little point in quoting them as only increases traffic

Then , when you click on the 'accept all ' X ,it closes & another pile of****ing shite pops up thanking you !!!!!!!!!!! I can barely restrain myself from smashing the ****ing lap top to pieces.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I browse 99% of everything on my iPad as although the cookies are there, apple pop up blocker usHalley keeps my irritation level low.
The news pages are usually only the ones I give up with and close before getting to what I wanted to see

Same as youtube every few seconds adverts

I think you misunderstood John. Jaws
CTC suggested auto delete software to get rid of cookies.
TWO asked for examples of such software......not examples of who sends cookies.

I use Ccleaner and my wife uses Safari to remove unwanted trash, (on the settings page tap Safari and scroll down to the blue coloured text.)

We get that cookie pop from sites to agree / disagree to them as part of some badly implemented/written legislation to help us. 🤔

Yup... Another stupid law written by people who know sweet fanny adams about a subject they think they have the right to ( like an awful lot of our laws and rules )
If they had actually consulted people who know, it would have been useful instead of a bain in the lives of who use the internet

11.99 a month. BUSBY.
shocked no way GIF

Is it a pay one?
Nope, it's free and a good workable alternative to the dreaded Google (nobody should use it but old habits die hard).

On the subject of cookies, if you take a little time to respond to the pop-up asking you if you will accept them, you will find options to turn off all but the essential ones on each site that's offering them. Tedious initially, but effective. Also, if you can, navigating your way around the site ignoring the pop-up, will mean that they won't be installed. In Safari you also have an option to empty the caches regularly (Safari-Preferences-Advanced and tick the box at the bottom that says "Show develop in the menu bar") with a single click after each site you visit.

The problem with clearing your cookies, cache etc regularly is you then have to re-agree to them each time, so I tend to just say 'yes' and only agree to essential ones if the option is given.

Cookies are required to make a website work. People have hooked onto the fact that they are used to target advertisements. However, they are also needed to do pretty much anything else with a website too. It would be very hard to write a shopping basket, or anything that required logging in without cookies.

People are blaming the cookies (the technological mechanism) instead of the problem (invasive advertising). It's like blaming "paper" because you're sick of junk mail coming through the letter box.
