Full time from 2015 - 2023 just short trips now for a while.
Hi all.
The pump start's up in the domestic water tank as usual but delivers no water to the flush...I see other types of Thetford have small pumps??? I was under the impression. That the water was pumped direct from the 200 ltr domestic tank on this one ??
Any thoughts appreciated.

If the pumps starting up, it could be a fault with solenoid under the toilet bowl, this is accessed by removing the screws inside the cassette hole. 4 screws hold 2 blocks and then about 6 screws holding the swivel bowl.

Remove the cassette. Check the carrier on the roof of the compartment. This carrier rotates to open or close the cassette blade. There is a fuse and microswitch in the carrier. You can remove the carrier by undoing the central screw.

In my case, the wire feeding the microswitch had fractured. I bypassed the microswitch. The microswitch only stops the operation of the flush when the cassette is removed.....so not a train crash !!!

Bad design having a rotating carrier with wires attached.... the wires are bound to fail sooner or later. Subsequent models discarded this system.

It helps to be a contortionist or if you have a small child, use that :ROFLMAO:

Edit: I assume it's the bench style toilet you are referring too ? If not, ignore the above.

I found a 3 amp fuse, on the left of the cassette housing, it was intact. Is the solenoid fixable? Does it have another fuse under the bowel? don't want to strip it out if I need to replace it as I'm in Spain.

No

the solenoid doesn’t have its own fuse but would be worth checking it’s connectors.
If you do get to remove it to check it, I found that when you’ve removed the bowl it’s easier if you unscrew the vacuum break valve.

The solenoid isn't repairable, only replaceable. When our solenoid packed in, it slowly syphoned the water tank contents. It's a bitch of a job to work on, and a mirror can be very helpful when slackening the bowl clamps.
A new solenoid is around the £40 mark.

Good luck. ?

Jock. ?

Thanks wagoneer, I think your reply came in when I was typing, I'm absolutely useless with electrics.

But also see my subsequent edit. The electrics aren't difficult to fix even for a bodger like me !!!

Thanks Jock, I can live with it till I get back, I think.

Regarding, bypassing the microswitch.
Would I be correct to assume that if I joined the wires that come in and out of the switch ( ie remove the switch) it might work. Why would anybody flush the bowel if the cassette was removed??? I'd be tempted to leave it out...or bypassed.??

Yes, that's what I did. Just join the free ends together either side of the switch. I had to do this because the wire was fractured directly adjacent to the microswitch. And I felt the microswitch was a stupid idea anyway. Just warn the other person when you empty the cassette....simples !!!

Edit, you could test the microswitch to check if it's faulty. Just close the contacts firmly by hand and get AnOther to press the flush. If that doesn't work it's possible the switch is faulty or something else is causing the problem.

I always let Mrs T know that I am freshening up her favourite seat, I just don't want the additional work involved if she nips in for a cheeky one thinking I am out and about enjoying myself :gum:

Use a small spray bottle or, for bigger jobs  , use the shower head for a spray (if its the flexible hose sort and reaches).

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions, I may take a look at tackling it here as it's nice and warm .....and I'm not sharing my favourite seat with anyone, so no chance of a mishap, but thanks for the thought...I'm still laughing. ?
