Had an hour or so to kill on my way over to moville in donegal.
Had a quick wander through part of the Bogside in Derry, a place at one time I couldn't have drempt of wandering round...
Pictures arnt great but thought I'd post..
Mixed emotions as I wandered round but I think one of sorrow was the overriding one.
Part of the old walls.

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Hazel & I took a wee drive around the Bogside fairly recently & like yourself we (particularly me) were taken aback by how laid back it felt. The last time I'd been there was in the 70s & it was a very dark different place. We can see Ireland on a clear day from my area, the Antrim coast looks gorgeous from south west Scotland but I often looked across & thanked my lucky starts that I didn't live there. Now we're friendly with a couple who own a farm near Larne & one is a protestant one is catholic, now that was a huge no no when I was younger but I envy them living in such a beautiful place.
Thanks for posting the pictures, very very nice indeed.

In my part of the world it's Derry or Doire.

Too much politics and reliving the troubles , and it is Londonderry. We had the good Friday agreement lets move on.

Its Londonderry

Its what ever I choose to call it...
I'm from a protestant background but have little time for the politics of it all..
I feel for all who have suffered and that includes the poor soldiers who had to try and keep the peace.. it is a better place now ,but still a ways to go as your comments demonstrate..
I've always refered to it as Derry... always will.. :p
Andy.

Hi.. weekend kayaking with Adrian who runs Inish adventures in moville. . It's their sea symposium weekend..
You're lucky having a house in the area...
Love donegal. On par with parts of Scotland. ..

Yes it's a lovely area. I was left the house by my Mother. It overlooks the Greencastle ferry on the upper road.
