Anyone with a Tesco Credit I would check your transactions

I had a text from Tesco asking to confirm if a transaction to Zipcar for £191 was mine.
After talking to them there was another transaction for £360 to Eurocarhire both those two were blocked but another two for £4 & £9 had gone through.

We have been out of the country since 17th Sept & don't use that card when away.

Anyway Tesco Credited the transactions that had gone through cancelled and issued new cards.
As they did that without question it makes me think someone has hacked their database and they have had a lot of problems.

I had my Tesco debit card hit last year, someone bought £365 worth of electrical goods from a wholesaler in London whilst I was in Germany. Tesco blocked the card and replaced it and the funds without question.

We were recently given new cards from Tesco due to some fraudulent activity they detected so maybe you are right but they would have to declare this to the information commissioner and FCA and I have not seen anything anywhere.

We had 3 transactions for Airbnb and it took a while to get them removed as they kept adding them back - first they credited them then Airbnb did so Tesco added them back twice and I had to keep on with them to get them removed but we got there in the end!

Wife had her card replaced unexpectedly a couple of months ago, which was a nuisance as she does quite a bit of on-line shopping and had to keep changing the details. We both keep an accurate check on our accounts and, apart from the odd "forgotten" purchase, soon sorted, haven't had any problems.

Yet.

It happened to me a year are so back 3 x £250 purchases within minutes of each other, Tesco refunded my card straight away without any question.
I'm told they sometimes try small amounts, and if there's no reaction try larger amount later.

Had no issues with my card but one day last week it wouldn't authorise 3 swiped payments, had to enter the pin numbers. It was OK the next day. One of the cashiers advised that most swiped cards are stopped on occasions as a means of verifying the cardholder has the legit pin numbers.

I’ve had similar with Tesco and RBS, on both occasions I was phoned by their fraud sections to confirm what they said were unusual transactions. I didn’t make them and they refunded my accounts and replaced cards immediately.

We had our card “blocked” by Tesco a few years ago.

They had noticed “unusual” activity on our account so froze it. We were among several hundred people who had had their cards cloned following the hacking of Cotton Traders servers.

Tesco read out our recent transactions, two of which were fraudulent. They immediately removed them from our account. We considered it good service except.....

.....we were away from home and they would only send the new cards to our home address. Understandable, but inconvenient.
