  • Hi Snowbird , just put a deposit on a 2004 i810, really excited. There is some delamination in places on the body and also a bit on the roof. There doesn't appear to be any damage on the floor. Do I need to worry or not. KR

Thanks, I believed this to be the case but had a nearmiss with a 2008 Polite with a very free moving wingmirror when it rained. Am I correct no wood in RMB walls as long as water doesn't bridge and run down the inside alloy no way for water to get into the floor.

All RMBs were a monocoque one piece bodyshell. Built in one piece, then lowered onto the chassis. No wood was used in the construction of the shell. Delam on the roof is normal, but rare on the sidewalls. I have seen a little delam on garage doors, but that is about it. Bare in mind, RMBs tend to be heavy due to the thickness of walls and solid wood furnishings.

Happy to have heavy, grew up on a farm. First motorhome was a very early ClouLiner or that's what they told me they thought it was. I can now say having found the Arnold links he was definitely an Arnold and quite rare as he was on a VW Lt chassis and 1987. Been looking for that sort of durability ever since we sold Clous the motor house..guess we even named him wrong..lol thanks again for the return KR
Hi Iv got a 2004 RMB wite star auto but have problem with step now jammed and alarm sounding in cab that makes it stuck in park. Is it a case of cleaning gearing or nee step required

There were several types of step fitted to them. Is yours the chaindrive in a box on the LH as you come in, or is it the drop down from the body with the colour coded outerr panel to match the skirt.
    hi,
You live in Liverpool with an RMB! We are in the Pennines between Leeds and Manchester with a RMB silver star. Theres not many of us in the UK.
Those 5 pot Mercs are good for 500000 miles if the oil is changed at 5000 miles. Something drastic must have happened to the original.

Dave, yes I would expect that sort of answer. I am just checking out a few things then see if I can put in an offer. Although living in Brighton, I actually come from your nemesis Manchester, well south of Stockport.

Hello Dave @Snowbird. Sorry for being so forward, I know you get a lot of questions but I am here on this site because you have been recommending RMB's to people. I have been looking at RMB's and have found one I like. I was wondering if you could take a quick look and see if you have seen it on your travels looking at RMB's. I am not sure how to contact you directly and think this is the way.
    Kind regards

The engine was changed @ 116000km. Its bloody cheap at that price, but he will come down to 20000 am sure as its export. Its the flagship Silver Star with pure sine inverter. Only thing not original is the bathroom sink. Get it bought.

Everything but the bathroom sink! Thanks for your appraisal. Just one more question with you being an ex haulier. 116,000km is not a lot for a diesel, what would you be expecting for such an engine?
Hello Snowbird, I just stopped over on a blog that came up where a guy renovated an RMB he bought in Spain! He booked out Vital Logistics in Hampshire to do the work in, that company is now defunct. I have just purchased a 1990 RMB the same as his, and also need a location but as importantly need to know where the specialists are if i need them for parts and work etc,. I am in London N1 :) a

Hi Mike, am without an RMB at the moment, but who knows for how long. Having owned a 670 and a 760 with matching RMB trailer in the past and brokered several others you never can tell. If the one in your avitor is yours, was it for sale from Spain at one time as I seem to remember it.

Hi Snowbird,I was researching a microwave HMG20D when I came across your same dilemma. After a great deal of trawling I have come to the conclusion that this microwave has been exclusively manufactured for Carrefour by Samsung. I have downloaded a user manual from Samsung-MG23F301TAK which I think is the 23 litre version but I can't confirm until I go back to Spain in September.
    Regards,Ray.

Thanks so much for that. I still do not have a user manual, but have found out how the thing works by trial and error. I did think it would be made by one of the big manufactures and badged up for Carrefour.
Hello. I have read a lot of your helpful posts including Mercedes T1 based vehicles. We have a 1992 308d based homebuilt conversion. Engine is sound but we are experiencing problems with fuel supply. The In line filter is constantly blocking and we have been advised that the tank is corroded/contaminated and needs replacing. Can you suggest a possible source for a replacement? Best wishes. Paul.
many thanks for this just a bit worried as this is first trip to Spain but you have put me right will start booking Ferry - now happy to travel through France stopping off at Parc Verger and hopefully go for your La Toretta for a weeks rest hope I can contact you again if that's alright cheers John
