Boy its warm out there ... absolutely sweating when i returned from our walk so that's it the shorts and vest top is on

I quite like this wee place and I couldn't think at first why as its nothing special just a wee seaside town out of season

Then i clicked

It reminds me of spain

Make of that what you will

Yep .....i was going to say it looked like Spain....but without the atmosphere, spanish people, spanish food etc

This driving everywhere at 30/40 miles an hour on cattle tracks i dont like

I cant say im bonding with italy ....there are nice parts like everywhere but generally its not for me i think ......not putting it down it just doesn't capture my heart like spain did.

I'm hoping greece is better .....ive not been to mainland greece before only a few islands .....i loved zante .... wasn't so keen on Crete.

I'm hoping the mainland lives up to my expectations.

When I think of Greece one of the best ways to describe it is lifted from Lawrence Durrell's 'Bitter lemons' in which he describes the village of Bellapaix in the hills above Kyrenia and the village square where the 'old boys' sit under 'The tree of idleness'. I have sat under the exact one in Bellapaix - and am mentally and in my soul still sitting there.

Just find your Bellapaix and the likes thereof, and you may not move for days.

The Greek word 'avrio' means tomorrow, and there is a saying 'Avrio is like Spanish 'manana' - but without the same urgency.

Only 4 more days till Igoumenitsa.

Geoff

['Bitter lemons' is a great book. That and his brother Gerald's book 'My family and other animals' are great introductions to Greece.]

Greece is still laid back especially on the mainland.Cant remember the name of the area but it's probably half a day from
Igomista but it's where the monasteries are built on top of huge rock formations,,Very interesting,,Plenty of overnight stops at taverns if you have a meal ...BUSBY.

we went to Meteora about 20 years ago and I still remember it now. Amazing place. We were staying in Parga, which was very nice, and also went on a boat to Paxos and Anti Paxos, which were lovely. A long time ago, but definitely a place we would go back to :giggle:

So heres a few pics from today at our lunch stop and then where ive parked up for tonight at a wee harbour .....i did stop at another parking spot about 15km up the coast which was a deserted car park by the beach....few guys walking around and kept passing by the van ....then this old guy about 65 knocked on my door and started yabbering in Italian at me ...i said i couldn't understand and he said " you look sex?"

Well needless to say i left there pretty sharpish

Im deeply offended that he could possibly think a handsome stud like me would be interested in an auld foaggie lol

Anyway heres the pics

Sounds like the Italian Tourist Board won’t be offering you a job either.

You need to take that kilt of and hang in Back in your wardrobe and lock the door.😂😂

And put some pants on under the kilt, letting it all swing free just gives people the wrong idea with you 2' above him when you answered the door. ::bigsmile:
