I don't know any of the CCC sites, sorry.
My advice would be to stay a reasonable distance from home so that you don't arrive tired and stressed from the journey with a new vehicle.
Give yourself plenty of time to get settled and sorted before dark.
Enjoy.

Have fun. Try UKcampsites (on google) they have a very useful filter on their sites for campsites open all year...they list the C&CC ones. have fun

From Radstock it's an easy drive to the C&CC site at Devizes. Not stunning views but next to the K&A canal, good play park for the kids and there's a pub next door. There is a dog field but the managers a few years back took the gate off and insisted all dogs had to be kept on leads, don't know if it's still the same now.
There's also the Salisbury site, but don't recall a play park there.
Farther afield there's Moreton in Dorset, next door to pub, train also to Weymouth. Or one of the New Forest sites.

On and off for many years.
You could always spend the first night in the van on your drive. Easy to pop home when you find you have forgotten something!
